SACA (Southern Arizona Clay Artists) combines artful empty bowls with soup to help neighbors fight hunger.
On Saturday, Jan. 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ike's Market, 13005 N. Oracle Road (just north of Tangerine in Oro Valley), enjoy a simple meal, and own an original artisan bowl (minimum $10 donation) which helps to serve as a reminder that there are always empty bowls in the world.
All money raised will go to Catalina Community Services.
Raku, sculpture and other nonbowl items will be offered in a silent auction.
Ike's Market is the newest grocery concept by Bashas'. It's out of my normal driving radar, but I stopped there once on my way home from the town of Oracle. I was impressed. It's different than AJs: more user-friendly and not as packaged.
The excitement is building for the Tucson Weekly/Access Tucson/Project White House Dark Horse Presidential Candidate Debate on Wednesday, Jan. 23. The candidates know that a home run at the debate could translate into a landslide on Election Day.
