Once again, the state's budget problems are center stage on Arizona Illustrated's Friday Roundtable, along with Republican Frank Antenori's promotion from the Arizona House to the Arizona Senate and the city of Tucson's loss in a lawsuit over non-partisan election.

The Screening Room is mixing it up this year with a variety of films.
Tonight at 8 p.m., it's horror film Necrosis: Six friends are trapped in a cabin on the site of the Donner party's cannibalistic slaughter. As ghosts emerge, close friends start to turn against each other.
At 7 p.m., Saturday, March 6, Tucson filmmaker Kathryn Ferguson presents The Unholy Tarahumara, a non-traditional documentary about two Tarahumara families. The film has been screened in 13 film festivals in the United States and Europe.
Then at 8:15, Ferguson's Rita of the Sky screens. Here's the description from the filmmaker:
Rita of the Sky is a documentary about Rita, a mysterious woman who was erroneously placed in a Kansas mental hospital because her unrecognized native language was described as “guttural noises” of a mentally ill person. It has screened at the Arizona International Film Festival (Best Documentary, Best of Arizona), Cherokee Nation International Film Festival (Best Documentary), Boston Latino International Film Festival, and LA Femme Film Festival, Los Angeles. Borderlands Theater produced a play about Rita called The Woman Who Fell From the Sky. It just completed its 250th world presentation in Mexico City.
On Sunday at 3 p.m., Rita of the Sky screens and is followed by a discussion with Kathryn Ferguson; Barclay Goldsmith, director of the play The Women Who Fell From the Sky; and Mike Wilson, a Native community activist.

The Loft, BTW, is currently screening four Academy Award nominees. When you throw in beer and pizza, this has got to be Tucson's best theater, hands down.

Access Tucson has announced via e-mail that it is extending its shutdown in light of city funding cuts:
On January 27th Access Tucson announced that facilities would be closed February 10th through March 9th to save money and allow Access Tucson the time to work with the City of Tucson on a plan that keeps public access alive.The City promised to move quickly. The City Manager's recommendation to keep Access Tucson operating was supposed to go to the Mayor and Council by February 23rd but did not; it has been put on the Council agenda for this coming Tuesday, March 9th during their study session at 11am.
The result of this two-week delay: Access Tucson will now remain closed through March 23rd.

Hey milkbreath! The Cereal Boxx is celebrating National Cereal Day with a cereal-eating contest at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, March 7.
Owner Terra Schacht said contestants will compete to see who can finish two bowls of cereal with milk the fastest. The type of cereal will be announced on the day of the event, and prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers.
Pre-registration is required, and contestants must sign a waiver and agree to be videotaped for later release on the Internet. Participants must also be free of food allergies, although accommodations will be made for those with lactose intolerance.
Thirteen people had already signed up this morning, but there are plenty of spots still available. The Cereal Boxx is located at 943 E. University Blvd., Suite 101. Call 622-2699 to register or for more information.
