I get the feeling that it'll be revealed that this guy is part of some bizarre Best Buy viral media strategy, but for now, I'm going to just enjoy his video is one strange young man's expression of how much he likes his place of employment.

Almost everyone knows someone who has experienced cancer—and once it happens to you or to someone important in your life, you realize you never really understood the magnitude of the diagnosis before.

This I know now from experience, which is why I want to recommend going to Bumstead's and IBT's tonight (Saturday, Aug. 13) to help Barbara Ann Shuman say goodbye to her boobs before she undergoes a bilateral mastectomy.

The boob-farewell party for Shuman, the owner of Bumsted's, is from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. As one friend told me, considering how Shuman has helped different community organizations over the years, going to support her during this time of her life should be a Tucson requirement.

Buzzfeed is really doing the world a favor by covering this year's Gathering of the Juggalos, but I still feel like I should be there. While there's very little reason for the Tucson Weekly to pay for me to go, and I don't even really like the music of the Insane Clown Posse and their cohorts, it seems like a social experience that I should be chronicling for the annals of history. Also, I'm the only person here who has ever used the "Insane Clown Posse" tag on our site. Maybe next year...as long as The Man doesn't crack down on the Juggalos' fun.

Halfway through the latest episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm earlier this week, I had to pause and take stock. I have always loved Curb, and I've always thought it was one of the finest half hours of comedy on television. But this season has been different. This season is a step up, a comedy writer at the very top of his game, doing his very best work. A step up, mind you, for a 64 year-old who also created a show many consider the greatest sitcom of all-time.

Here's what's really astounding, though: this season of Curb, helmed by the most accomplished television comedy writer in history writing some of the best material of his career, still isn't the best comedy on television. It's not even the best comedy airing right now, in the middle of summer. That's when I realized: we're in the golden age of comedy television.

Kids who participated this summer in Pan Left's Youth Media Camp will show their work tonight at the Screening Room, 127 E. Congress, 7 p.m. It's free, you get a chance to see a range of genres, from documentary to horror, music video and animation, and experimental science fiction.

According to Pan Left, the camp was made possible with funding from the Kresge Tucson Initiative/Tucson Pima Arts Council and the Every Voice in Action Foundation; and was sponsored by the School of Theater, Film and Television at the University of Arizona and the Pima County Public Library.

The Tucson stop of the Wild & Scenic Film Festival hits the Loft Cinema on August 17th and we have two pair of tickets to give away.

I always assumed that cat videos largely came from people trying to capture the adorable things their own cats are doing, but it turns out it's all so corporate. I'll never look at a kitten trying to get out of a box the same ever again.

By way of full disclosure, I’ve known one of the guys in this company for about a decade, although we've seldom spoken or even seen each other. He and his wife used to hold a literary happy hour at a different bar every month. Somebody should pick that idea back up. It was a lot of fun.

I’ve been told the woks may eventually come with recipes crafted by the chef at Tucson’s Mountain Oyster Club, an exclusive dining establishment that had carpet emblazoned with the shapes of cow testicles back when it was located downtown on Stone Avenue. There were also posters of pin-up girls in the bathrooms. I have to be careful, though, because I angered a lot of the club's members when I wrote about the place for the Arizona Daily Star more than a decade ago.

Anyway, the woks look pretty cool. The company also makes other stuff. More on that here.

Owner Vila Jarrell really pulled out all the stops for her newest restaurant, which pays equal homage to the local art scene and the culture of Thailand. She used to own and operate Vila Thai near the UA, which closed when her new restaurant opened earlier this year.

The courtyard area is as much a sculpture garden as it is a lounge area, with giant metal insects and flowers intermingling with couches Jarrell says are upholstered in the same colors as the robes worn by Buddhist monks. Lighting is soft, but ample. Everything is stone, wood, bamboo and metal. A nearby high-rise provides a blue-tile wall that resembles waterfall, if you squint just a bit. At night, a giant “V” is projected upon it.

The inside is done in equally soft tones, with pictures of Thai culture and a lot more art. Bamboo, rugs, modern metal and wood furniture and a small bar fill the rest of the space.

Now we must talk about the food, if only for a second.
