Aside from this being a super-cool video, I thought it would be a nice preview/opportunity to get amped for the Wildcat Print Association's live printing at Hotel Congress this weekend.

On Saturday, Oct. 29, WPA will be posted up in the back patio at Hotel Congress making sweet shirts for $10 a pop. Club members are managing three printing stations from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Immortalize the night with an exclusive WPA design made especially for the 2011 Nightmare on Congress event.

Maybe I'm just a sucker for trendy-DSLR produced videos, but I think it looks pretty cool. Plus who can say no to hip-kids with facial hair and PBR?

Adam Block, astrophotographer at the Mount Lemmon SkyCenter in Tucson Ariz., has been enamored by the night sky since he received his first telescope at the age of 7. Block talks about his love for astrophotography and how his curiosity of the cosmos grew from a hobby, into a profession.

I might be wrong, but it appears to be the same station. Sure, there's are fancier promos and new bumpers between songs, but in the end, what I personally care about is the music, since I always have the option to flip channels when I hear talking, and the music seems to consist of the same music they played before the change. The sequence of tracks I heard on my way into work? Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely", Hi-Five's "The Kissing Game", and Janet Jackson's "Nasty", which all would have fit into the previous format. The new station's website promises music from "Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire and more", so maybe the addition of music from Madonna is the big change? I'm so confused, but at least I know that I still have somewhere to turn when I need to hear a Earth, Wind & Fire track within an hour or so.

Coaxing a stem cell to differentiate is similar to telling a college freshman to pick a major—and about as difficult. With a plethora of options to choose from, how does one decide on a pathway to follow, and what’s the most efficient route?

For the stem cell at least, researchers at the University of Wisconsin have found a controlled method to signal cell decision-making, or differentiation. Their discovery opens new doorways in tissue engineering, a field that may one day create lab-grown replacements for failing organs and tissue.

I generally think Tracy Shedd and her Fort Lowell Records running husband James Tritten are in the high end of the top ten coolest people I know, so I don't have much objectivity with regards to her music, so this video is presented without editorial assessment to its quality.

However, I will say that if you haven't picked up Luz de Vida, the compilation "Encourage Me" comes from, you should. You can read far more about the album in this week's issue.

Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is off to North Carolina for intensive therapy for a couple of weeks. From Giffords spokesman Mark Kimble:

U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords traveled to Asheville, N.C. earlier today for two weeks of intensive therapy sessions.

Giffords will spend time with a therapist who has worked with her in Houston for the last several months and has been extensively involved in the congresswoman’s therapy.

Giffords will work with the therapist from tomorrow through Nov. 4 in Asheville. The trip is strictly rehabilitation-related and has been planned for the last several months. The congresswoman has no scheduled public appearances or events and will give no interviews.

Giffords traveled to Asheville from Houston, where she continues to undergo rehabilitation as part of her recovery from a brain injury suffered when she was shot on Jan. 8 in Tucson. Six people were killed and 13 others, including Giffords, were wounded when a gunman opened fire at Giffords’ Congress On Your Corner event in Northwest Tucson.

We thank the president for fulfilling his promise to the American people to end this misguided war quickly and responsibly. For nearly a decade, Americans across the country spoke out against this war, and now we can turn the page on a troubled period in American history. This is a long overdue victory for not just the people of Iraq, but the progressive movement that consistently opposed this costly and unjustified war.

As the president honors his commitment to America’s voters, we must also honor our commitment to our veterans by ensuring that they and their families receive the full benefits they have earned. We owe them nothing less.

What a horrific week for longtime Tucson restaurants! First we hear that three well-known Mexican restaurants are on the chopping block, and now we've confirmed that the Furr's Family Dining restaurant at Oracle and Wetmore roads has closed.

The Furr's on St. Mary's Road, however, remains open.

That Furr's on Oracle and Wetmore had been there for some 30 years. Can you imagine how many of those tiny dishes of canned green beans and Jell-o salad it served in that amount of time? It boggles the mind.
