Colin Boyd's review of the new Will Ferrell movie Casa de Mi Padre in this week's issue (on stands tomorrow, online later today) ruminates on the theory that Ferrell does his best work when he's working in the "doesn't give a shit" zone. I'm not exactly sure whether his interview with Jimmy Kimmel last night conducted entirely in some form of the Spanish language qualifies, but it's certainly something.

Now, I'm too broke and too much of a chicken to go through with any sort of body modifications (not to mention that my only tattoo ideas are related either to video games or professional sports teams,) so there's no chance I'm getting any "work" done any time soon.

But that doesn't stop me from dreaming — or wondering how much more or less a shoulder tattoo would hurt compared to a Tyson-esque face tattoo.

Well, thanks to the folks at Tattoo-Picture-Designs.com, who were kind enough to put together a list of the most- and least-painful places to get inked, I need wonder no more!

While the most painful area to get tatted — your genitals — makes sense, it's generally not a good idea to get tattoos in areas that are thin skinned, lightly muscled, or right next to bone.

In other words, to experience the least possible pain, you're going to want a tat on your tuches — which, I learned, is the proper spelling of the Yiddish word for "ass." The more you know!

Oro Valley voters saved themselves another trip to the, well, mailbox, since Tuesday's all-mail primary election resulted in all three seats getting filled.

Incumbent Bill Garner and challengers Brendan Burns and Mike Zinkin all appeared on more than 50 percent of the ballots cast, which means each of them is automatically voted into office and negates a need for the town's planned general election in May.

The winning trio bested incumbent Steve Solomon and newcomers Mike Napier and Fred Narcaroti.

The third seat up for grabs was previously held by Barry Gillaspie, who did not seek another term.

Burns, Garner and Zinkin — who narrowly lost the town's mayoral election in 2010 — will be sworn into office in June.

Let's just ignore for a moment that the weird math of the presidential primary system actually means that Mitt Romney increased his delegate lead last night than his opponents, but if this seemingly endless struggle means I have a few additional opportunities to giggle at references to one apparently broke candidate's last name, so be it.

You have seen these around town in the medians or in your home's landscape. One of my new favorite plants is the Gopher plant or Euphorbia rigida. You know we gardeners are always changing our favorite plants. I love the flowers it puts out, plus the easy care and low water nature of this plant.

This plant works well in containers and since it is low water, it can be hand watered weekly during the hot season and every two weeks in the winter.

Jack Kerouac tried to convince Marlon Brando to play Dean Moriarty in a film version of On The Road back in 1957, and that misstep kicked off 55 years of attempts to turn the classic road trip novel into a movie. There's reason to believe the version coming out on May 23rd might be ok (the director Walter Salles is obsessed with the book, requiring the cast to attend a "beatnik boot camp" before filming), but the trailer isn't terribly inspiring, seeming to just assemble a bunch of period cliches together with a quick glimpse implying Kristen Stewart will be seen topless at some point, which is apparently a selling point for some people. I suppose as a fan of the book, I'm not quite ready for the Twilighting of Dean Moriarty, and if the book has been seen as unfilimable for decades, maybe there's a reason. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

However, no matter how misguided and off the mark that film adaption might be, it could always be worse, as Mike Lacher's full-length Axe Body Spray inspired parody, On The Bro'd proves. A selection:

A raw fucking thing happened when Dean met Carlo Marx. Two total players that they are, they took to each other at the drop of a hat. Two hardcore eyes glanced into two hardcore eyes- the Natty-slugging player with the lacrosse shorts, and the MGD-chugging player with the popped collar that is Carlo Marx. From that moment on I saw very little of Dean, and I was a little sorry too. Their energies fucking tangled (no homo), I was a prude compared, I couldn’t shotgun PBRs as fast as them.

The House Ethics Committee voted unanimously today to recommend the chamber hire an independent investigator to sort out the domestic violence allegations against Rep. Daniel Patterson and determine if he violated any laws or House rules.

In the first Ethics Committee hearing on the domestic violence allegations launched by Patterson’s former live-in girlfriend and campaign manager, Georgette Escobar, the committee recommended the Speaker of the House of Representatives appropriate money to hire an independent private council to sort out the messy he-said, she-said between the two.

“There are some serious allegations and the complaint that was received was also signed by a significant number of members of the House,” said Rep. Ted Vogt, R-Tucson, the Ethics Committee chair. “So it warrants investigation.”

Vogt said he has spoken to the Speaker of the House, who is receptive to paying for the investigation.

The investigator will have to submit a report on March 28, and Patterson’s formal response to the ethics complaint launched against him by fellow Democrats will be due the same day.

Vogt said Patterson had requested another month to respond to the ethics complaint, but the committee decided two weeks was ample time to get a response and the process rolling.

Vogt said he wanted to proceed as quickly as possible with the investigation and hearing, though he didn’t know if the matter would be decided before the session ends. House rules don’t set a timeframe for how quickly ethics investigations must be completed.

Patterson did not attend the hearing, though he voted on bills before the full House just before the committee started.

A criminal hearing is pending in the Tucson City Court. Patterson has pleaded not guilty to four counts of misdemeanor domestic violence.

Al Kamen of the Washington Post wonders whether Richard Carmona's Senate run can awaken the Latino vote in Arizona:

Romney’s diligent efforts may be helping him secure the GOP nomination. But he may have turned Arizona (with 11 electoral votes), which since 1952 has only voted once for a Democratic candidate (Clinton in 1996), into a battleground state this year.

Loop Fans may remember that the Obama team briefly considered a push in Arizona in 2008 but backed off. Native son McCain had the state locked up.

And McCain won Arizona by a solid 8.5 points, getting 41 percent of the Latino vote. But if Obama had campaigned and won the Latino vote — then about 18 percent of the state’s eligible voters — by an 80-20 margin, McCain’s win might have been more like a squeaker.

In addition, the Latino turnout there in 2008 was only 36 percent — compared to a national average among Latino registered voters of 44.9, according to data compiled by the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO).

Turnout, Arizona pollster and political analyst Mike O’Neil told the Loop, “is the entirety of the political equation.” The question has always been “can anyone wake up this sleeping giant” of the Latino vote, he added. “I’ve heard it over and over and it’s never happened.”

Some Democrats are looking to former Pima County, Ariz. deputy sheriff Richard Carmona to be the alarm clock. Carmona is running in the Democratic primary to be the candidate for an open Senate seat.

If he gets the Democratic nomination, Carmona, a Green Beret, winner of two Purple Hearts in Vietnam and President George W. Bush’s surgeon general, may boost Latino turnout. And Obama campaign workers are now in Arizona big-time.

Bunz is a 1973 Pace Arrow that’s been converted into a sweet little food truck that's been quite a hit with the late-night bar crowd on Fourth Avenue. Owner Peter Raskob says about half of his customers stop by between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. to cap off an evening of revelry with one of the truck’s cheeseburgers or chili dogs.

In a world where food trucks become ever more complex, Bunz stands out for its simplicity. You will not find gourmet twists, flashy signage or locally sourced ingredients, but everything is made right and tastes very good ... and the prices won’t make you gasp when the check is tallied up.

Raskob is the former owner of Café by Peter, which he operated from 1993 to 1998 at 4784 E. Sunrise Road. His most recent gig was at Coyote Pause Café out on Kinney Road. After he left there he took his daughter to Spain for three months and started the food truck when they returned.

At Bunz - which carries that name because the original concept was to serve only things that came in buns - you will find grilled-cheese sandwiches topped with bacon and tomato, chili dogs, cheeseburgers, breakfast burritos, bowls of chili and Fritos, cookies, chips and drinks. The barbecued-chicken sandwich they had on special last weekend was off the charts and Raskob plans to have a corned-beef-and-cabbage special this weekend.
