Pima County Democratic Party Chairman Jeff Rogers and Republican strategist John Ellinwood visit Arizona Illustrated's Political Roundtable to discuss the resignation of state Rep. Daniel Patterson, the latest bills at the Arizona Legislature, next week's GOP primary in the race to finish Gabrielle Giffords' congressional term and the ongoing battle over ethnic studies in the Tucson Unified School District.

According to a Pima Community College press release, former chancellor Roy Flores will end his affiliation with the college on June 30 due to health reasons. Flores was expected to stay on the college payroll through June 2013:

Dr. Flores turned 70 on April 4. He served as PCC’s chancellor from March 2003 to February 2012.

Dr. Flores underwent quadruple-bypass surgery on Oct. 14, 2011 and an emergency angioplasty on Feb. 3. He was placed on medical leave on Feb. 9.

According to the terms of his contract, Dr. Flores would have been paid by the College through June 30, 2013, working on special projects at the direction of the Board of Governors.

His decision to retire from PCC a year earlier than expected means he will no longer be paid by the College after June 30, 2012.

Dr. Suzanne Miles was named Interim Chancellor by the Board on Feb. 29. A national search for a permanent Chancellor is underway. Dr. Miles, a 26-year veteran of PCC, will not apply for the post.

Just throwing this out there, but if you're going to get a bikini wax, that's totally fine, but perhaps having these sort of quotes come up in Google searches for your name for the rest of time might not be somewhat regrettable down the road:

Evan Scott, 32, a music producer who lives in Murray Hill, has been getting a more-basic bikini wax for about two years. “I like to represent myself in a certain way, from no clothes to fully buttoned up, and I think that this is an extension of my overall presentation,” he said. His comfort might also be explained by the number of visibly depilated men, like David Beckham and the Situation, increasingly evident in mass media. “It’s not emulating something you’ve seen in some X-rated film,” said Jason Chen, an associate style editor at Details. “It’s about maintaining yourself and keeping things clean.”

There are five bags of these Takis snacks in the Tucson Weekly snack machine and everyday I walk past them (they've received the center, eye-level premium placement) and wonder what they are and whether they are a delicious secret functioning as a key unlocking a Narnia of flavor. It's been sort of taxing on my brain, to be honest, so I submit this question to you, reader of The Range: are Takis good?

A few things that make Takis sort of appealing:

1. They're cheaper than anything available in our snack machine, costing only 50 cents when most of the chips are a full buck in price.

2. I think the swirl used to dot the i is sort of hypnotizing.

3. The product info refers to the snacks as "tacos" (twelve to a serving size). I like tacos.

A few things that make me wonder if Takis are some sort of cruel culinary joke:

1. They have been in our snack machine for two weeks and even at their low price, no one has taken the flavor plunge. Usually the cheap items are terrible, with the exception of the Great Regular M&Ms Thursday of 2011.

2. One of the ingredients is "chicken fat". Actually, I'm not sure how I feel about that. That could go either way.

3. While the snacks are apparently taco flavored, what aspect of tacos are they attempting to capture? Meat, the shell, all of the above? This is very confusing to me.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I'm guilty of this as well in the era of the iPhone, but Maura Johnston has a thoughtful blog post on the Village Voice's music blog discussing why we should spend less time documenting the time we're having at concerts and more time actually experiencing the entertainment. Maybe this is my own faulty nostalgic memory, but it seems like people find all kinds of ways to avoid actually listening to music at shows these days, whether it's through trying to capture poorly lit video with the screen in the air or playing obsessively tweeting during the set:

3. It makes you think more about documenting your experience in real time than actually having that experience.

Obviously documenting shows is something that I have to do most of the time for professional reasons, so this hits a bit close to home. But come on! You're all experiencing something that might never happen again! Take a break from analyzing it in real time or framing the perfect shot or trying to tell everyone that you're having the best time and just settle into the songs. (The people who you want to broadcast your night to will be there when it's all over.) I have this problem with parties, too, actually—I've found that my enjoyment of an outing is inversely proportional to the number of posed shots people take during said outing.

It surprises me a little that The Buffet has a Facebook page, but if you enjoy booze-related humor, it's a worthwhile "like".

Cornelia, you might only be five years and ten months old, but your maraca-enhanced drumming style will be your ticket to stardom.

On another note, who lets their kids listen to Rammstein (says the guy whose ten year old went around saying "that shit cray" a few weeks ago, inspired by a Kanye West/Jay Z track)?
