No big surprise in the Southern Arizona congressional races: Democrat Tom O'Halleran has a big lead over Republican Paul Babeu for the open seat in Congressional District 1, while Republican Congresswoman Martha McSally has a solid lead over Democrat Matt Heinz in Congressional District 2.
After addressing attendees at the Pima County Republican Election Party, Republican candidate for Supervisor of District 3 Kim DeMarco talked to the Weekly about her campaign efforts.
"I feel really good and we did everything we could possibly do," DeMarco said. "My district is heavily Democrat and Independent but I made a lot of great connections with the Democrats and Independents."
DeMarco went on to say that it is not really about Republican or Democrat; its about right and wrong and making sure that we get the right person elected.
As of now, DeMarco is trailing to opponent and Democrat Sharon Bronson who had 22,779 votes to DeMarco's 19,051 votes.
"She's a 20 year incumbent. A 20 year incumbent is definitely got the advantage but we ran a good campaign and I think we got it."
The Tucson Weekly endorsed Bronson.

Huge cheers at the Pima County Dems election night party with the news that Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio—America's Toughest Sheriff—has gone down in defeat tonight to Democrat Paul Penzone.
Mark Napier was delighted to get the Tucson Weekly endorsement, he said. Some of his friends may have rolled their eyes, but he was happy to know he's reaching across party lines. He graduated from Boston University, which he notes is not exactly a conservative school.
Napier sees importance in social justice and education. He says supporting education is a positive way to deter future crime.
He doesn't see the world as a nail and he's the hammer, he said, adding he has many tools to do the work he plans to do if elected sheriff.

Plenty of votes remain to be counted, but in the race for Pima County Sheriff, Republican Mark Napier looks is overcoming the Democratic voter registration advantage and will unseat Sheriff Chris Nanos, a Democrat who was appointed to the seat last year and who has had to contend with some scandals, including an FBI investigation into RICO fund spending that resulted in a federal indictment of his second-in-command.
Otherwise, Democrats are leading Republicans in competitive countywide races.
Republican Mark Napier is leading in the race for new Pima County Sheriff against incumbent Democrat Chris Nanos.
Napier doesn't think the position of sheriff should be partisan and believes in breaking through those barriers, he said, adding he's running to be sheriff of all Pima County residents not just his party.

Here are some of the numbers coming in from the Arizona Secretary of State Office on statewide elections, with 23 percent of precincts reporting:
- For president of the United States Hillary Clinton is at 46 percent; Donald Trump is at 48 percent.
- For U.S. Senator, Anne Kirkpacktrick is at 42 percent; John McCain is at 52 percent.
- U.S. Representative, Arizona First District Democrat Tom O'Halleran is at 50 percent; Paul Babeu is at 44 percent.
- United States Representative, Arizona Second District Martha McSally is at 52 percent; Matt Heinz at 48 percent.
- Pima County Supervisor, Republican Ally Miller is currently at 35,952 votes to Democrat Brian Bickel, who has 34,394.
- Prop 205 for recreational marijuana is at 616,000 for yes and 703,000 for no.
- Prop 206 for higher minimum wage is at 791,000 for yes and 521,000 for no.
In the heat of an election unlike any other, Republican hopefuls and supporters gathered at the Sheraton Hotel.
"Sharon Bronson lives on a nice, smooth, well-maintained street," Christopher O'Rourke said. "My neighbor's sister-in-law and brother-in-law live right across the street from her [Bronson] and they've had run-ins with her and her husband. Sharon Bronson is not a good neighbor at all."
O'Rourke would not get into specifics regarding his in-law's run-ins with Bronson, but did mention they engaged in a lot of "arguing."
"And she was the one who lost a county vehicle in the wash. Tax payers are paying her fines for her. She's been in too long, 20 years. They need to have three-term limit maximum, that's it."
O'Rourke also noted he hopes Donald Trump, Sen. McCain, Kim Demarco, Aly Miller and Steve Christy all come out victorious in the election.
The incumbents on the Pima County Board of Supervisors are out in front in the first returns we've seen out of Pima County Elections Department.

Over in District 1, Republican Supervisor and Empress Wackadoodle Ally Miller has a narrow lead over Democrat Brian Bickel. Miller has 51 percent of the vote against Bickel in the GOP-leaning district.

The New York Times is reporting that markets are falling in Asia as Trump is currently further ahead than expected. As of now, he has just been called to win Ohio, and is leading in Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, and Wisconsin, among others.
"Stocks in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and other major markets were down by as much as 2 percent as of late morning, after Japanese shares reversed earlier gains" an article in the New York Times said.
Just yesterday, markets were looking positive as traders felt confident Clinton would win.
"Clinton, viewed among investors as the status quo candidate, seems less inclined to take wild steps that would upset the markets" according to CBS MoneyWatch. Now, it appears traders are reversing course.

The Pima County Republican Party at the Sheraton Tucson Hotel and Suites is bustling. The drink line is long and people are in high spirits. Opening the evening, Kim DeMarco, running for District 3 Pima County Supervisor, led the room in the Lord's Prayer, asking everyone to hold hands. The room stayed standing for the pledge of allegiance.
Overall, people are excited at the possibility of a Trump win. One local family of five shows their enthusiasm with letters on their back to spell Trump. They are hoping for a Trump landslide said the father, Wes Morgan.
"We all came out to rally and support," he said.
With Trump leading at 139 over Clinton's 104, according to CNN, the Morgon's still have a chance at getting their wish. It's still too soon for numbers on Pima County.
