Unfortunate news from Exo Roast on Sixth Avenue, which announced on Facebook that the shop will be closed today and temporarily until further notice:
To Our Dear Patrons. We are currently closed for the rest of the day until further notice as we examine and attempt to repair our water filtration system. We apologize for any inconvenience and wish you a pleasant weekend.
Good luck with the system, Exo.

Sad news for fans of Greek fare in midtown — Greek Taverna, at 3225 N. Swan Road, will be shutting its doors for good at the close of business tomorrow.
According to Yanni Markou, the brother of owner George Markou, talk of closing the shop had gone back and forth for the past week or two, 'til the decision was made that Friday would be its last day in business.
The family has plans to re-open their Main Gate Square restaurant, The Fat Greek, "in a couple of months," Markou said, though they'll be doing so under a different name: Pelion Restaurant and Catering. Attentive Weekly chow-sters will remember that the Fat Greek closed for repairs after a broken pipe in the space above the restaurant caused severe water damage.
For Greek Taverna though, the plan is to keep serving food until the end of the day, at 9 p.m.—or 'til they run out of food.

Absolutely shocking food news today, folks: Big Juan's Tacos y Burros, which was handily reviewed by Rita Connelly in July, has announced that they've ceased operations at both locations: 4352 E. Speedway Blvd. & 4470 N. First Ave.
We regret to inform all of our loyal customers that we have closed our doors due to unforseen circumstances.
— Big Juan's (@BigJuans) January 2, 2013
The interesting thing to note here is that the sudden closure appears to have taken place immediately after a break for the holidays:

Now we know, Patrick.
Now we know.

I had reported on Parlour here in Noshing around a few weeks back, peering in the window, and hoping it wasn’t a long “soon” on when they would open. Per their Facebook page here, the new frozen yogurt place on Fourth Avenue will be opening Jan 1. Looking at the flavors on their website (www.theparlourtucson.com) the nerd in me is drawn to the Dragon’s Blood Sorbet. I think I may have to get my LARP group together and go on a quest for dragon’s blood “soon.”

Their website may say different, but The Lodge Sasquatch Kitchen at 7265 N. La Cholla Blvd. is open. I happen to be in the area yesterday afternoon and saw a “Now Open” banner as well as a few cars parked in the lot. I popped in and was informed that it was their first day open and they were ready to rock. I had other errands to finish so I didn’t have the opportunity to sample the goods but I'll be back. Check out the menu here.
