I stopped in at Sunflower Farmers Market out on Orange Grove Road the other day only to find a new sign indicating that Sprouts Farmers Market now runs the place. It looks like the other Sunflower locations in Tucson are following suit as well.

Inside, everything seemed calm and like it's always been, but signs of change were afoot. Employees were donning their new Sprouts gear and signs assured shoppers that while things were going to be somewhat different, there would still be a commitment to quality.

I like the Sunflower/Sprouts model of grocery store, especially when you compare it to just about any other large grocery chain out there. I realize it bears no resemblance to a real farmers' market - in a way, I don't think they should even be allowed to call themselves one - but the food and drink selection is far better than at the Super Walmart or Safeway.

But hey, Sprouts, how about setting up a program to sell lots of stuff actually produced in and around Tucson? Maybe even just a section of one aisle where we can find things made by local Tucsonans? And, please put in a growler-filling station like they've installed at Whole Foods. Thank you.

And thus ends the mystery of whether the closure of chef Steven Shultz's New Red Sky Inside Luna Bella restaurant at Plaza Palomino was permanent or just to make way for construction, as the restaurant's website claimed for months.

News came out today that Vero Amore is moving from it's location at 3305 N. Swan Road to the former home of the New Red Sky Inside Luna Bella in Plaza Palomino at 2990 N. Swan Road. It's just a small jump down the street, but a big upgrade for the restaurant.

The move into the former Luna Bella spot is temporary, according to a press release, and the restaurant will eventually move into another space that is being completed as part of a massive revamping of Plaza Palomino. The remodel is expected to wrap up next year.

Vero Amore is owned by brothers Aric and Joshua Mussman, who have another Vero Amore location in Marana. They also own Noble Hops Gastropub in Oro Valley.

The restaurant is expected to open in its new spot in late August.

Meanwhile, it looks like Red Sky/Luna Bella is now a five-star catering company. More on that over here.

Just a quick update on the new downtown place we told you about yesterday. Owner Travis Reese, who owns 47 Scott and Scott and Co. with his partner Nicole Flowers, says the new place will be mainly a restaurant and that the Rhum Bar name on the liquor license application is really only part of the name.

Reese says they plan to call the new restaurant Saint House, although Rhum Bar could also be part of the new eatery's moniker. Reese is out of town this week on business, but said he'll have more details when he gets back early next week.

Saint House is going in at 256 E. Congress St., where Sharks Bar used to be.

Sam Hughes Championship Dining at 446 N. Campbell Ave. will close its doors after dinner service this Friday to allow for construction on a new concept expected to open there later this month.

The new concept is called Social House Kitchen and Pub - or SoHo, for short - and is expected to open in the third week of August, although that will depend on how smoothly the construction goes.

The new restaurant is expected to be a slightly more casual affair. While the construction is expected to take place over just more than a week, the end product should have a look far different than what was found at Sam Hughes Championship Dining.

Restaurants in the Metro Restaurants family will be selling gift cards for half off today, Tuesday, Aug. 7, and tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug. 8. These sales only come around once or twice a year and are a great way to dig into some prime cuts of meat for cut-rate prices.

The restaurants participating include McMahon's Prime Steakhouse, Old Pueblo Grille, Metropolitan Grill, Grill on the Green and Abrego Grill. The gift cards can be purchased at the restaurants.

There's more information on the restaurants over here.

I've never really considered myself a tea drinker, but I visited The Scented Leaf, a teahouse/lounge located in the Main Gate Square last Saturday morning, and I may have developed an appreciation for the stuff.

Shave ice, pizza, kettle corn, gourmet sandwiches, barbecue and tons more will be up for grabs tonight at the Tucson Food Truck Roundup at Tower Theatres in Marana. Head over here or over here for more on that.

One of the new trucks I've been noticing at these events is Hellfire Pizza Co., which blends pizza artistry with a heavy-metal and punk-rock vibe. For instance, the truck sells a tuna sandwich called the Holy Diver (get it?), which some of us will remember as the hit album by heavy metal act Dio.

The truck is also supposed to start appearing at the Downtown food-truck food court soon. More on that here.

Tonight's event starts at 5 p.m. at Tower Theatres at 5755 W. Arizona Pavilions Drive, in Marana.

The new owner of the Daggwood Café at 736 E. Fort Lowell Road says the longtime Tucson restaurant has a new look and menu.

Owner Coral Hendon says she took the reins of the business about five months ago, revamping both the interior and the food served there. Being that it is the Daggwood, the sandwiches are still enormous, but now the emphasis is as much on high-quality ingredients as it is on providing more-than-ample portions.

"Our emphasis is great tasting, high quality sandwiches rather than mere sandwich bulk," wrote Hendon in an e-mail.

There's more on the restaurant here. See the menu right here.

Nearly a year's worth of work on the new downtown pizza place Reilly Craft Pizza and Drink wraps up this week as the restaurant prepares for its opening this Wednesday.

The restaurant is located in the old Reilly Funeral Home at 101 E. Pennington St. and co-owned by Tyler Fenton, who we spoke with shortly after he decided to open the place. Hours will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., daily.

The menu isn't posted at the restaurant's website or Facebook page yet, but the fact that they open at 11 a.m. this Wednesday is.

Just a bit of follow-up regarding Kade Mislinski's new shake shop, which we told you about earlier this week. From the HUB Restaurant and Ice Creamery Facebook page:

We're proud to announce the October Opening of Lulu's Shake Shoppe between HUB & Playground on the south side of our building. Thick hand-crafted Milkshakes, tater-tots, fries and hot dogs all to go out of our pickup window.

Let us pause to take this all in. HUB's ice cream makes the hair on my neck stand up in a very good way; there's a high-end chocolate shop called the Chocolate Fox in the same building complex; and we live in Tucson, where cold things to eat are very nice to have. This combination of factors foreshadows delicious things.

I am excited. Have a good weekend.
