Local comedian David Claire Parsons was one of the many that graduated from the University of Arizona last weekend. Parsons is going back to the Midwest at the end of this month, and he will be missed (by few). You might be asking yourself, "Is this the same David Claire Parsons that wrote and drew that offensive comic for the Daily Wildcat?" The one and only. He's a really nice guy that made one simple mistake, and we will never let him forget it.

D.C. (that's what we call him for short) has been doing stand up comedy in this city for years, and all his fellow comedians are throwing him a goodbye roast. Keep in mind, Parsons asked for this. He's actually a good guy and a fine joke writer.

Enthusiastic comic book fans Cynthia, Jenny and James Alvarez are bringing back 'Talking Comics' after a long hiatus. The show was originally created by Boom! Studios author Eric Esquivel (Smell Ya Later) and Weekly cartoonist Arnie Bermudez (Fish Wrap). Cynthia is a well rounded Heroes & Villains employee and Jenny was this year's Tucson Comic-Con program director. They know their stuff when it comes to funny books.

They are the female equivalents to Sheldon and Leonard from the Big Bang Theory.

This week the duo gives their two cents on Vertigo's new monthly comic HINTERKIND.

(Th)ink cartoonist Keith Knight was on Totally Biased last night. Knight announced that he's working on a new autobiographical comic about his time as a Michael Jackson impersonator when he was in high school. Apparently in the mid-eighties when MJ was black and Madonna was a virgin (we all know that wasn't true) older white Boston women used to pay people to "grab their groin" at their kid's birthday parties. Knight said that graphic novel will be ready by next year.

YouTube user Etoilec1 recreated parts of the "Gangam Style" video in the form of a flip book! The lip movement and dancing is really accurate and impressive.

Whoever made this video must have a lot of patience and way too much time on their hands. I didn't even have the patience to count past the eighth book they used.

Etoilec1 usually uploads flibook versions of Dragon Ball Z episodes on his page. Which is cool—if you're into that kind of stuff I guess.

Pauly Shore, the comedian who has tackled just about every aspect of the comedy business out there, will be performing a standup show on March 1 at The Rialto Theatre.

For those of you who don’t know, Shore is a comedian who has been surrounded by comedy his whole life. His mother, Mitzi Shore, founded The Comedy Store and his father, Sammy Shore, was also a comedian. Pauly too decided to follow the comedic path and create a career out of making others laugh.

He was the host of his own television show on MTV, Totally Pauly in the 90s, starred in Encino Man, Bio-Dome, and several other films, and he also has circuited the world doing stand-up comedy. Shore told me about the past, the upcoming performance in Tucson, his infamous pseudonym “The Weasel,” and what we can expect from him looking forward.

This is an example of how the Arizona cover will look for the new series, Justice League of America #1
  • This is an example of how the Arizona cover will look for the new series, Justice League of America #1

The Justice League, as many of you may know, is the valiant team that is made up of the world’s most dominant super-heroes. The original team included Aquaman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Superman and Wonder Woman.

Writer Geoff Johns and artist David Finch have been working to produce a new comic series, Justice League of America, which features unpredictable characters.

“They’re underdogs who have everything to prove and something to lose,” said Johns in a press release.

For those of us who love to root for those underdogs, this new series will cast the spotlight onto unlikely heroes such as Green Arrow, Katana, Martian Manhunter, Simon Baz, Stargirl, Vibe, Hawkman and Catwoman.

“The Justice League has been positioned as like the A-list, the big iconic superheroes, and the Justice League of America is a very different team. As evident by the initial lineup, it's not a team of A-listers,” Johns told MTV Geek.

In this new series, the United States military decides to form a league of its own under Colonel Steve Trevor. The Justice League of America must spring into action to take on the challenges that come their way, leading up to the Trinity War in part one, “World’s Most Dangerous.”

Justice League of America #1 will hit the shelves on Feb. 20, with 52 variant covers. The different covers will show the Justice League holding each states flag of the United States, as well as Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico. The books will consist of 40 pages for $3.99.

For more information about the comic book series and the variant covers, click here to view the original post about it on DC Comics.

This week Heroes and Villains' resident-undead-assassins-gone-good Cynthia and Bobby review Talon—quite possibly the only dude go toe-to-toe with Batman and evade gettin' locked up in Arkham Asylum afterward.

...probably because he was created by the guy currently writing Batman.
