Legendary erotica photographer Eric Kroll has curated a special Valentine's Day show at the new Exploded View Gallery/MicroCinema.
You won't see any of Kroll's work, although the photographer himself will be on hand for the opening of Unobtainable on Friday night. Instead, you'll find pieces from a collection of photos of women with long hair, painstakingly assembled by one of Kroll's New York City friends who "just had a jones for women's hair."
The show includes photographs, collages made from comics and Hollywood stills and a film of long-haired women shot in Washington Square Park and Coney Island, according Kroll.
"Arthur's obsession with women's hair is a form of love and it's Valentine's Day," Kroll tells The Range. "I wanted to broaden the sense of love because Arthur sees things uniquely and in his work, his obsession makes his work artful. It's a different way of looking at love."
Thy Odd Birds will be performing and there will be all manner of fun, so stop on by anytime after 7:30 at Exploded View, 197 E. Toole Ave. Admission is just $5. If you can't make it Friday night, the show will continue through Sunday, Feb. 16. For more info, call 520-366-1573.
Here's Kroll's story behind the show:
Arthur never tried to make art. Nor was he a photographer. Yet some of his photographs in Washington Square park make me think of Cindy Sherman’s early cinema stills or Walker Evans in Cuba in the 1940’s or Robert Frank’s The Americas.
Singer-songwriter Jim White is just twisted and other-worldly enough to have attracted the interest of Talking Heads fulcrum David Byrne. At the time, in the mid-90s, Byrne's Luaka Bop stable comprised indigenous Brazilians almost exclusively. While that provides a sense of Byrne's captivation, it's of no use at all in characterizing White's sound.
His full-length debut in 1997, (Mysterious Tale of How I Shouted) Wrong Eyed Jesus revealed White as a personification of the Southern Gothic aesthetic, a brave explorer of the murky goo that makes its home where certainty, righteousness and an annoyingly bright light might reside in other minds.

So, we are confident that the eastside can handle Tucson Weekly's Dirty Thirty party from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Music Box Lounge, 6951 East 22nd Street.
We are throwing a monthly happy hour party every second Wednesday of the month.
We had a great time at the World Famous Golden Nugget. The staff was playing David Bowie and Elvis Presley tunes to celebrate their birthdays, and had some tasty cake with mousse frosting from Costco. There will be good free cake at every Birthday celebration.
There will be drink specials, and maybe we will get you free drinks. I'm not guaranteeing anything, but it could happen.
Click here to RSVP on Facebook and you share it with your friends.

The Arizona César E. Chávez Holiday Coalition has organized the first Dolores Huerta International Women’s Day Luncheon & Awards Ceremony from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4 at the YWCA, 525 Bonita Ave. Tickets are on sale now. Go here for more ticket information.
What's exciting about the luncheon is Huerta's return to Tucson. She will be in attendance and helping to present awards to outstanding community leaders in our community. The coalition is soliciting nomination for awards "to be given to women in our community that embody the strength, dedication, and passion for social justice that Dolores Huerta exemplifies."
Nomination deadline is Friday, Feb. 14th. The following two categories will be considered:
The Consuelo Aguilar Esperanza Award — Given to a woman leader 25 years or younger that demonstrates strong activism, love of community, and represents great hope for our collective future.Si Se Puede Legacy Award — Given to a woman leader that has 15 years or more of advocacy in our community, and a long term history of activism on social justice issues.
The Arizona César E. Chávez Holiday Coalition is asking that submissions be e-mailed to [email protected] and include a one to two paragraph summary about the nominee. Submissions for the Esperanza Award should include the age of nominee. All submissions will be reviewed between the aforementioned dates, and anyone is welcome to nominate local leaders.
More form the coalition:
Dolores Huerta is co-founder of the United Farm Workers Union, and one of the most prominent Latina leaders of our lifetime. She worked to organize the most vulnerable laborers among us in the 1960’s and 1970’s, winning basic rights for farmworkers and negotiating landmark contracts with growers. She went on to found the Dolores Huerta Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to community organizing, developing leadership skills, and encouraging civic engagement. Dolores Huerta has received multiple honors and recognitions, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her activism and civil rights work in 2012.

In 1963, the sounds of a swooning steel guitar might have wafted through the palm-fronds as baby boomers were seduced, if not back to a suitor's off-campus lodging, at least into the tender mercies of alcohol (ew! ptui!) swathed in sugary fruit juices with a gardenia on top.
Happy 50th birthday, Kon Tiki! UA students from 1963 through 2014 remember you well. Not for nothing have you been locking down Best Signature Cocktail and Best Cocktail Menu cocktail categories in Tucson Weekly's annual Best of Tucson® issue for almost as long as it's been published.

Jacob Breckenridge and professional comedian Pauly Casillas are hosting their monthly improv comedy show The Switch at 9 p.m. tonight at Plush, 340 E. Sixth St.
Johnny, Jim and Joe Tullar are in town and you don't want to miss this. You might know them from the various films they screened at The Loft Cinema's First Friday Shorts or you might recognize Johnny from The Frank show. Either way, it should be an interesting night, to say the least.
Some of the local comedians will be performing without a net, and there will be a special performance by members of the Tucson Improv Movement. There's a $3 Sleepy Dog Leg Humper drink special and no cover charge.
Here's what I think you should do this weekend.
There's two awesome concerts going on simultaneously tonight.
Cash Lansky and Marley B, this week's cover stars, are home after a month long tour through the US of A. You can catch the rising stars tonight at The Rock, 36 N. Park Ave. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are only $8 at the door.
Acorn Bcorn and The Resonars are opening for Seattle surfer punk rockers La Luz tonight at 191 Toole. La Luz was supposed to perform at Club Congress in November, but was forced to reschedule after losing all their musical equipment and tour van in a car accident with a semi truck. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for this all ages show. Click here for more details.
Here's what you should make time for the weekend of Feb. 1-2:
