Here's your chance to experience
Park(ing) Day this Saturday, November 16th, at
Exo Roast Co. and
Tap & Bottle located near the intersection of North Sixth Avenue and East Seventh Street. The event will be in conjunction with the
Greater Arizona Bicycling Association’s annual
Fall Bike Swap at 400 North Fifth Avenue.
Park(ing) Day is made possible by Living Streets Alliance (LSA), the Sustainable City Project (SCP), and the University of Arizona College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture (CAPLA), and the participation of local businesses Exo Roast Co. and Tap & Bottle.
“Parklets create cost-effective, quality, mini-parks that enhance business districts and ‘green’ the streets,” says Emily Yetman, Executive Director of Living Streets Alliance. “They give shoppers a comfortable place to relax in between activities, and create a unique focal point for passersby, improving the attractiveness of the area as well and the quality of the pedestrian space. They’re a great way to increase walkability and in doing so, attract more customers to local businesses.”

Up and coming Hollywood comedian Tom Clark will be in town this weekend at
Laffs Comedy Caffe, 2900 East Broadway.
You might have seen Clark on TNT's
The Closer, or
Outsourced or the hotdog vendor at this year's Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2013. I know him because of his voiceover work on the
Blade II video game from 11 years ago. Steve Poggi will be the featured act, and there will be some local comedians doing some guest spots as well.
I'm hosting all 4 shows all weekend. You might have seen me at Tucson Meet Yourself doing the
Cupid Shuffle. It's going to be a lot like that but I think I'll do the
Electric Slide instead. There's an early show at 8 p.m.and late show at 10:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. You should come down and get a drink with me at the bar. Dingo the bartender will take care of us.
Email me at
[email protected] to win some tickets to the show.

It's that time of the year when you get to dress up as a sexy cat, and I'm not talking about the sexy feral cats that cry at my door for food. I know a lot of you have been dying to show off your costumes that you have spent months or hours making. Halloween is like comic-con with out all the clearasil and Big Bang Theory jokes. The Tucson Roller Derby is having their
ninth annual ABC Halloween Party Fundraiser at 8 p.m. this Friday, October 25 at
The Hut, 305 North Fourth Avenue.
I have attended a roller derby bash in Phoenix once and those girls know how to party. I felt like the pretty girl at the prom because there were more (tough) ladies than guys there.
Tickets are only $20 and you get five drink tickets. There will be a costume contest with cash prizes. All the proceeds go to the Tucson Roller Derby. For more information
click here for their Facebook event page.

It's not the typical cat videos we pick-up. This cutie isn't walking upright and doing the cha-cha or popping his head in and out of a cardboard box. No. This cat was caught smuggling marijuana into a prison. Cats are amazing creatures.
Prison workers apprehended the cat late last week after they noticed it wearing a suspicious purple collar.
In a video posted to the Department of Prisons website, officials can be seen lightly caressing the animal as they carefully untie two polyurethane bags wrapped around its neck. They cut open the bags to find a green "herbal" substance with "the distinct odor of marijuana."
Investigators have concluded that the cat was outfitted with the collar outside the internment facility and sent to deliver its contents to inmates through a small hole.
