Time for a sex ed lesson! Thanks to environmental stressors such as overpopulation the Earth is hurting and endangering wildlife. What can we do about it? The Center for Biological Diversity says it's petty simple: Stop hogging the planet.
The rapid growth of our human population is pushing other species off the planet in what most scientists are calling the sixth mass extinction crisis. Yet this population explosion is too often ignored by the public, the media and even the environmental movement, while it continues to drive all the major environmental problems that plague our planet — including climate change, habitat loss, ocean acidification and resource depletion.

That’s why the Center for Biological Diversity launched our Endangered Species Condoms project in 2009, and since then has distributed hundreds of thousands of free condoms across the United States. Wrapped in colorful, wildlife-themed packages (with artwork by Shawn DiCriscio), Endangered Species Condoms offer a fun, unique way to get people talking about the link between human population growth and the species extinction crisis.
The art is pretty great and we've got a boxful to give away. Want a pack? Send me an email ([email protected]) with the subject line "Endangered Species Condoms." I'll hand 'em out until they're gone. As they say: Wrap with care, save the polar bear.

With the San Diego Comic Con now in full swing, the Range is bringing you a collection of photos from this summer's Phoenix Comicon, which drew at least 100,000 people and has become one of the biggest events in downtown Phoenix. (A hotel manager told us it was second only to the Super Bowl—and even the Super Bowl wasn't as big in some ways, since so many of the events were off in Glendale.)

Photos by Scott Smith, who had the most massive stash of comics I'd ever seen in my life when I met him in the sixth grade at Lineweaver Elementary.

By the way, if you want a chance to celebrate geek culture at a cooler time of the year, the Phoenix Comicon folks now have a fall event, the Phoenix Fan Fest, coming up Oct. 22-23. Learn all about it here.

Find yourself a fun wig (or maybe bring out the one from last Halloween?) and participate in Tucson's first ever Wig Out

What it is: You and your friends get the wigs that you’ve been hiding in your closets, like, forever. Get them out. Get your wig self out! Go to a venue in downtown Tucson. Post images of yourselves with the hashtag‪ #‎tucsonwigout‬. Simple. Fun. Find your flamboyant self! It’s Friday, wear your wig to work! Take pics!
Express yourself all day long this Friday, July 22, yes (even at work) and enjoy the eccentric hair you wish you had everyday.

The Loft Cinema (3233 E. Speedway Blvd.) is hosting A Hard Day’s Night Sing-A-Long on Saturday, July 16 at 7:30 p.m. featuring the film that typifies the height of the Beatles' revolutionary career. The movie follows John, Paul, George, and Ringo as they prep for a London TV gig in the midst of shenanigans and screaming fans. Directed by Richard Lester, A Hard Day’s Night includes some of the Beatles' most famous tracks like, “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “I Should Have Known Better,” “Tell Me Why,” and “If I Fell."

The 87-minute film will have all the lyrics to your favorite Beatles tunes displayed on screen for the optimal sing-a-long experience, and pre-show entertainment includes Beatles music videos and a costume contest. 10 bucks won't 'buy you love' but it is the general admission price, and children under 12 get in for $8.

We're just about half way done with the second round of Best of Tucson voting. While (technically) every category is still anybody's game (well, any of the finalists), some races really are incredibly close.

These are the most competitive categories in each section:

Best Art Classes
Interestingly, this category was pretty quiet in Round 1. Now that the finals have hit the ASDM Art Institute, Creative Juice Art Bar, the Drawing Studio, Pima Community College and Sonoran Glass School are all pulling in a ton of votes. Each contender is pretty different, but it's up to you to pick the best place to pursue an artistic education.

Best Hotel
Tucson is a city of beautiful places, and our local hotels make sure visitors realize that. The Arizona Inn, Downtown Clifton, Hacienda Del Sol, Hotel Congress and Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa are our finalists in this category. Where do you tell your visitors they should stay?

Best Games Store
I've said it before: It seems like Tucson has an abundance of board game stores. Whether you're an Agricola superstar or the person who always finishes last in Sorry!, a good local game store is a handy resources come Hanukkah, homebody houseguests or Sunday nights at home. So, you need a board game. Where are you going to go? Amazing Discoveries, Heroes and Villains, Tucson Games and Gadgets, Isle of Games or Yikes Toys, probably.

Best Tattoo Parlor
We know Tucson loves Tattoos—that was pretty much the entire premise around last year's Best of Tucson. But getting an ugly tattoo is a lot worse than getting a bad hair cut. So, where to go? Our readers reccomend Black Rose Tattooers, Enchanted Dragon Tattoos, Haunted Hands, Sacred Art Tattoo Studio and Tattoo Artistry.

I know I have wondered, as I remove my glasses and slowly stumble into bed, if perhaps I've been over zealous on my Netflix binging. Well, if I am, it turns out I'm not alone.

Today Netflix released a "binge scale," offering a little insight into the streaming habits of the Netflix community at large.

This is one-fifth the amount of ice cream I'm expecting you to eat.

Today is, miraculously, not quite the scorcher yesterday was. Even so, it is hot as all hell outside and you should get some ice cream. But from where?

Well, maybe from one of the five (or five of the five) local ice cream places Tucson has deemed the best.

We've just opened the second round of Best of Tucson voting. We tallied your votes from round one and came up with a list of finalists based on your input.

You've got until July 31 to fill out your ballot, and you should absolutely spend some of that time taste testing the restaurants recommended in the Casual Dining, Restaurant and Cultura sections.

The five finalists for Best Ice Cream are: Allegro GelatoCashew CowFrost Gelato, the HUB Ice Cream Factory and the Screamery. Report back when you're finished.
