Yes, corned beef and cabbage is the most common dish served on St. Patrick's Day, but there are plenty of other delicious meals that are sure to wow your green-season party crowd. And they definitely do not include green food coloring.

1. Pan Fried Salmon with Citrus Vinaigrette (total cook time- about 45 minutes)

This healthy meal features one of the Emerald Isle's staple foods— Salmon. (It also happens to be one of my favorite foods as well.) Plus, this recipe is a perfect use for all of that citrus being forced on you by friends and family with fruit trees in their back yards.

What you'll need: asparagus, extra-virgin olive oil, fresh orange juice, fresh lemon juice, fresh lime juice, shallots, chives, Salt and freshly ground pepper, vegetable oil and, most importantly, skinless salmon fillets

Find the full recipe here.

Like most children, I loved watching Disney princess movies and trying to dress up like them. But incredibly talented and creative Malaysian makeup artist @queenofluna takes classic dress-up to a whole other level.

"Using only her hijab and killer makeup skills, she gives herself the face AND the hair of our favorite princesses, and even a few fierce villains," said Lauren Gordon in an article for Revelist.
Get a look at some of her creations (assuming her account isn't private when you see this—it's been going back and forth since she got noticed)

Check out her Ariel! She even includes one of those "dinglehoppers!"

Her Jasmine is absolutely gorgeous.

And my all time favorite, Mulan!

Go follow her on Instagram. It is well worth your while. @queenofluna

About a week ago, the Internet unearthed its latest meme—the ever-popular, always annoying "Damn Daniel" Vine

Most viral videos are at least a little funny, but "Damn Daniel" is not. Daniel Lara, the Vine's namesake, wears white Vans, but that's about all he does. The line, "Damn, Daniel, back at it again in the white Vans," spoken by Lara's friend, Joshua Holz—the guy behind the camera—is the alleged "humor" behind the Vine.

The Vine isn't really that funny, IMO, but I guess Ellen saw promise in the 14-year-olds behind it because she invited Lara and Holz to her show, giving them free "Damn Daniel" merch and Ellen-brand fame.

"Damn Daniel" was pretty dumb. It made me wonder why the "Lebron James" kid or the "What Are Those" guy weren't invited to Ellen—those Vines were actually funny, after all.

On Saturday, March 5, Fit Fest Tucson will take over the Reid Park Zoo for a night of good ol' fashioned community involvement. The fest will not only raise money for important Zoo endeavors, but also general fitness awareness in the Old Pueblo.
Licensed and certified fitness instructors from across Arizona will teach a laundry list of exercise classes, ranging from more popularized fitness regimens such as P90X, yoga and Zumba, to newer ones like PiYo and Turbo Kick. Fit Fest offers attendees a range of low and high impact workouts so everyone can participate—meaning, don't be discouraged to attend if you can't run in and out of Sabino Canyon in an hour.

All ticket-sale proceeds will fund the Zoo's construction of a new Animal Health Center that's been in the works since May 2014. The new center will be around 7,500 square feet and update the Zoo's current resources to reflect current veterinary technologies and standards. New technological additions include a surgical suite, intensive care unit and diagnostic laboratory, to name a few.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 2 to 14 pre-sale, and $25 at the door. Find more info and grab your tickets here

Tucsonans from the North to the South know the Rialto regularly hosts the best local and international performers, but on Saturday, Feb. 20, the historic venue will throw a colorful night of jazz, drinking, swing dancing and, most importantly, fundraising with their Stage Canteen: A Swingin' 1940s USO Party.

Dressed as a '40s-wartime Bob Hope, MC Lynn "Win" Roberts will host the evening's festivities, which include live music from Big Band Express, a local jazz group; vaudeville entertainment from Cirque Roots, a "grassroots artist collective" specializing in all things circus. Expect appearances from a slew of special guests, auctions for original band art/memorabilia and raffles. The Rialto also promises attendees delicious culinary libations from local eateries including Elliot's, Hub, Proper, Cup Café, Maynard's and more.

Whether you're a fan of cats or a general fan of adorable animations, I have a game for you.

Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector is a Japanese cat game that has been sweeping through our iPhones in the cutest and most relaxing way. The app, rated number 104 on the Apple App Store free top charts, has become a main focus for many blogs, as well as my own daily life.

Think you might enjoy putting out virtual food and toys and waiting for virtual cats to arrive in your virtual yard? I definitely do.

First, you have to set up your yard. Then tiny cats, all with a different preset names, interests, and personalities will begin to visit, leaving fish treats as a reward for your kindness. You can then use those fish treats to buy more goodies for them. If you are lucky (and generous), a rare and limited-edition cat may visit you.

I am not too embarrassed to say that I've spent days saving up for the highest quality animated food and cat accouterments. Only the best for my (digital) kitty cats!

But be warned: this could happen to you. If you need help succeeding in this a cat-eat-cat world, visit gameskinny.com.

Con Man Fanfiction Contest Launch Video from Con Man Web Series on Vimeo.

Ages ago
, we talked about Con Man—Alan Tudyk's long overdue Firefly spinoff/replacement/bandage. Tudyk and Nathan Fillion raised cash for the project through Indiegogo. Obviously, people were excited, all kinds of cash was raised and fan bonuses were added as the money came in.

One of those bonuses just took off, and it's even open to those of us who didn't put any cash into the project in the first place:
Alan Tudyk, star of "Firefly," "Serenity," and the soon-to-be released "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," is launching his own writing contest for his latest web series "Con Man!" The winner of the contest will have the first chapter read by Alan himself in a video personally addressed to the author!

Put on your fanfiction hats and get inspired by Firefly, Serenity, or Alan's latest show, 'Con Man.'

Start writing already, so you can submit as early as you can!
You can submit your creation (or peruse the others) online. The deadline is March 2!

And for the writers out there, here's a little Fan Fic inspiration:

Traveling alone can be tough. When all of my snooty friends couldn’t join me because they had families or careers they couldn’t walk away from, I had to get creative in my search for a companion.

I left Tucson in June of 2014, traveling with a group of 500 soccer fanatics to watch the World Cup in Brasil. We were hundreds of strangers from across the US and everyone seemed to bond almost immediately

Then, after two weeks, they were gone.

I next stayed with a friend from Brasil, though she usually had school and I spoke no Portuguese at the time.

Then, after two weeks, I was on my own again.

I worked in Bahia for a month, then left and never saw my coworkers again. I repeated the experience in Salvador. And Ecuador. And Peru. You see the pattern. I was surrounded by people who wouldn't stay in my life. I was alone in a crowd. I wanted a permanent travel companion, flexible and adventurous.

So I made my own.

First came the pattern. I found this nifty guide, printed out a PDF of the design, bought some fleece, and got to work.

I started with the arms and legs. They were the easiest pattern, and as I had never sewn before, the least noticeable if/when something went wrong.

Sunset Magazine has put Bisbee on the list of the best communities in the West:

The main approach to Bisbee, southeastern Arizona’s mining town turned arts colony, is through a tunnel in a mountain. Once you pop out on the other side, you’ve entered a funky Shangri-la, a free-spirited community marked by a tangle of narrow streets streaming down the canyon and 19th-century cottages clinging precariously to the hills, along with a historic Main Street bristling with galleries.

Prospectors discovered copper, then gold, in the surrounding Mule Mountains, and by the 1880s a boomtown developed. When the mines played out in the 1970s, counterculturalists, artists, musicians, poets, and writers moved in, drawn by the scenic canyon setting, cheap rents, and preserved-in-amber historic architecture.

That’s when Bisbee coalesced into a proudly weird (to use a favorite local adjective) and quirky community—an outpost of liberalism in an otherwise conservative state. Local theater, community radio, yoga classes, reiki therapy, and vegan eateries took root. At the same time, Bisbee also evolved into a popular tourist destination. Galleries, pubs, boutiques, inns, and restaurants popped up. A monthly art walk, as well as annual craft beer, blues, and Americana music festivals now fill the calendar.

Newcomers today are largely drawn by not only the boho vibe, but also by affordable housing. Bisbee’s sense of community is also a big magnet for those considering relocating here.
