Salvador, Brasil

I subsidized my time in Salvador by working at a youth hostel. Work resembled a Pitbull song and every night brought a new cast of travelers from around the world who there on vacation. Most nights I hung out with whoever was staying at the hostel, with the exception of Fridays. I don’t bro out at bars with the guys and typically went to the lighthouse to watch the sunset with my girlfriend at the time. She worked late one night, so I went alone and explored a new part of the city.

I enjoy seeing new cathedrals and churches, so when I saw a large one with the lights on I went in. I sat in the back and tried not to draw attention to myself. After about two minutes I saw the rest of the crowd walking towards the front and a women in the aisle motioned for me to come forward. I wasn't sure what was going on, but it looked like a weird time so I followed the group towards the front. We then stood in a line facing the stage. Three pastors came to the crowd and started barking commands at a man. The pastors put their hands on the man's head and started yelling and shaking their hands. I stood and wondered what was going on when they finished with him and a pastor walked to me. He was much friendlier with me than he was with the first man. After a minute of talking, he put his hands on my head and started chanting. At the end of each sentence he chanted OUT or NOW and would throw his hands up. This only lasted around two minutes and then he looked at me, smiled, and walked to another person.

This should be your exact costume.

So, you want to be famous. Well, get your act together because America's Got Talent is on the hunt for new contestants.

From KXCI:

KXCI 91.3FM Community Radio and The Rialto Theatre are hosting a Gong Show style talent search in downtown Tucson at The Rialto Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 28.

The first 100 performers through the door are guaranteed an audition in front of talented and influential judges including, David Fitzsimmons; Editorial Cartoonist for the Arizona Daily Star, Cathy Rivers; Music Manager and Executive Director for 91.3 FM, Bridgitte Thum; Comedian, hostess for KXCI Community Radio and Founder of “The Lonely Hearts Club” Podcast, Rusty Boulet-Stephenson; Art Director and host of “The Current” on 91.3FM and more!

Four winners of “Gong Show” will snag a fast pass to the front of the line for the Season 11 auditions for America's Got Talent in Phoenix on Dec. 3.

Music, Comedy, Dancing, Juggling, Under-water Basket Weaving! The stage is set and ready for you.
Doors are at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.

This "fast pass" doesn't sound quite as good as the ones you can get at Disney Land, but it's something. Nov. 28 is this weekend (which is ridiculous because wasn't June basically yesterday?) so get going on your, uh, underwater basket weaving.

BRAND STATION/LEGO/PIWEE
Talk about fashion statements.
Some whimsical news out of France: LEGO has heard your midnight cries and is working to protect your venerable feet.

Well, not your cries unless you've been crying in Europe.

According to Huffington Post (and their hopefully reliable translators!), 1,500 LEGO customers who fill out the company's Christmas wish list will win a pair of foot-savin' slippers. The slippers are made with extra padding on the bottom to make walking through a recently LEGOed room less horrifying.

Want a pair? Move to France, fill out your wish list and hope you're one of the lucky 1,500.

Or just, you know, wear regular shoes when entering the danger zone.

Last year I attended Cyclovia's April event. Having no idea what to expect when I went there, I assumed it was just another bike race. What I found was a community event unlike any other.

There were people doing zumba in the streets normally infested with cars, children riding skeletal horse bikes, full drum kits being towed by bicycles and and live music on every turn. I chose it as this week's #1 event to attend for City Week for a reason. Even if you don't like bikes, go check out the one of a kind experience that Cyclovia offers.

Every week, Casa Video is kind enough to send us a list of their top 10 most-rented DVDs. We print the list in the paper's Cinema section, hopefully reminding someone about a film they've been meaning to see.

Here's the thing about newspapers: they run low on space. The internet doesn't. So, while we'll still shoot to get the list in print each week, you'll definitely be able to find it here on our blog.

Basically, here's what you (and everyone else in Tucson) want to watch this weekend:

1.  Furious 7

2.  Mad Max: Fury Road

3.  Cinderella

This is equally interesting and gross—a combination that can potentially make this video one of those "break the Internet" type? It has close to 750 views at the moment, but websites like BuzzFeed and USA Today's For The Win are spreading the word.

Anyway, here you go: a rat dragging a slice of cheese pizza down the stairs at a Manhattan bus station.

If you noticed, the rat ditched the pizza in the end. Will it come back for it? Why did it abandon the slice? A lot of questions unanswered.

(Nope, you'll never get those 14 seconds of your life back. I'm sorry. I, too, will get back to work now.)

The folks who bring you such T.V.-based exclamatory oddities as Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and Superjail! are touring the country this fall and Tucson's on the list of stops. Adult Swim is hosting a drive-in movie event at the Mercado San Agustin, and you're going to want to secure your spot soon.

The Adult Swim Drive-In isn't simply just screening re-runs of Children's Hospital (though that would be pretty cool, too), but, rather, showing off some unaired pilots and specials. Food trucks, trivia and prizes are all on the night's line-up as well, with vouchers for a free food truck meal handed out while supplies last. The AS crew recommends bringing your own blankets, pillows, chairs, slankets and blillows ... whatever that means.

All of that takes place on Saturday, Oct. 17 completely free. All you have to do is RSVP online via the Adult Swim website and you're good to go. It is an 18 and over event and is subject to capacity.

Until then, let's all take a moment on this lovely Friday to remember Adult Swim at its finest:

You know the days when you're watching the Simpsons, and you're consumed by an overwhelming desire to redo a kitchen with corncob curtains and sky blue countertops? Well, the lady in this video gets you and has decided to make those dreams come true.

What is the next renovation waiting to be inspired by a Netflix binge? Allow me to suggest the converted firehouse from the Princess Diaries.
