I have to admit there were some surprises in the second round of the Tucson Weekly Celebrity Showdown. Amanda Beard (64%) over Sean Miller (36%)? Chuck George over Lute Olson in a close one? But most of all, I was stunned to see that Janos Wilder took Mark Kelly in a blowout. You never know, I suppose.

The quarterfinals are live now. Cast your votes to determine who will advance to our final four. Will it be ex-pat singer Linda Ronstadt or swimmer/model/memoirist Amanda Beard? Morning show star Savannah Guthrie or superchef Janos Wilder? Hero Gabrielle Giffords or weather predictor Chuck George? Surgeon Richard Carmona or unicorn-maven Lisa Frank? This round won't last long, so vote now.

So over the last week or so, the Actresses Without Teeth Tumbr Tumblog has been gaining a massive number of fans across the internet — and I'm not completely sure why. I mean, for some reason, when I see this:

and this:

I can't help but think of this:

Folks, the votes have been counted, celebrities have been eliminated, and we're finally ready to move our Tucson Weekly Celebrity Showdown Round of 16 — just in time for the Wildcats to play in today's Sweet Sixteen game against Ohio State today.

We totally planned it this way.

So, who's going to be moving on to the next round, and who will be heading back to their lovely homes, hanging their heads in defeat?

This time 'round, we've got former Wildcat, local business owner and current NBA star Derrick Williams taking on world-renowned, locally-grown music legend Linda Ronstadt; UA men's basketball coach Sean Miller (whose stock might be affected by the results of today's game) against Olympic swimming medalist and swimsuit model Amanda Beard; Today show host Savannah Guthrie against Arizona football head coach Rich Rodriguez; retired astronaut (and narrow victor over the Ooh-Aah Man!) Mark Kelly against culinary superstar Janos Wilder; former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords against local purveyor of fine dining Mr. An; college basketball coaching legend Lute Olson against Tucson's weather superstar Chuck George; Arizona Wildcats softball superstar Jennie Finch against former U.S. Surgeon General Richard Carmona; and the woman responsible for the mid-'90s avalanche of sparkly, rainbow-covered goods, Lisa Frank taking on champion of natural eating and health, Andrew Weil.

So who ya got, Tucson? Voting for this round ends next week — by then, we'll see who's made it to the Round of Eight, and who'll be consoling themselves drinking one of our finely crafted local brews.

Vote here!

And possibly the best celebration GIF I've ever seen.

From Saturday's 74-51 Arizona Wildcats victory over Harvard:

I wish to buy this man a beverage.

Really, the only way to respond to that GIF is with yet another GIF:

Nice moves, friend. See you in the Sweet Sixteen.

If you remember our Celebrity Showdown cover story from last week, you might recall that we pitted 32 of Tucson's most beloved celebrities up against each other in a single elimination tournament to determine the most famous person connected to our fair Pueblo.

You may also remember that we split the first round of voting in half, saving eight matchups for the first half of this week, drawing concerns from some readers who were champing at the bit to knock off the whole bracket in one go.

Well, wait no longer, friends. We updated our Celebrity Showdown voting page yesterday evening, giving you Round One, Part Two of the bracket. This round features matchups between Red Meat cartoonist and First Friday Shorts poobah Max Cannon against current NBA star and local business owner Derrick Williams; homegrown musical treasure Linda Ronstadt against UA sportscasting treasure, Dave Sitton; the now-$25,000-poorer UA men's basketball coach Sean Miller against the widely-renowned Mariachi Cobre; Olympic champion and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Amanda Beard against Tucson Appliance's man of many faces, Chris Edwards; Today show star Savannah Guthrie against UA running back and potential Heisman candidate Ka'deem Carey; beloved Wildcat football coach Rich Rodriguez against best-selling mystery writer J.A. Jance; retired astronaut and firearm safety advocate Mark Kelly versus Joe "Ooh-Ahh Man" Cavaleri; and local author Chuck Bowden facing off against star chef Janos Wilder.

I can't imagine "Thumbs and Ammo" sticks around for long (novelty blogs tend to burst into whatever passes for prominence online, then fade away quickly as the joke gets old), but if you're a fan of film and encouragement, take a moment to peruse the photoshopped images of people giving the thumbs-up signal instead of holding a gun.

I'm not one to subscribe to the crackpot theories of conspiracy fanatics of any particular political bent — I prefer to come up with my own crackpot theories, thankyouverymuch — but this one seems to have struck a particular chord with me: a theory raising the question as to whether or not the destruction of the Death Star was an inside job, organized by the family of Luke, Leia and Anakin Skywalker.

For those confused, this is an obvious, Star Wars-centric send-up of the Loose Change 9/11 conspiracy video that's floated around the internet in various forms since 2005. And honestly, it's masterfully done, arranging the plot inconsistencies of the Star Wars films (and man, there are plenty), in such a way that you might actually begin to think that George Lucas arranged the movies in such a way as to raise these questions...At least, until you remember that the Star Wars series is a space opera fusion of Westerns and Samurai films that appears to have been planned as thoroughly as a child's first interaction with Lego blocks.

Still, the video is worth a watch, especially if you've dabbled in conspiracy theories a time or two, you dig the hell out of Star Wars, or you want to kill seven minutes listening to a guy talk about a fictional movie universe. Your call.

If your answer to the question in the headline was "no," then you need to get your priorities in order, friend.

For those that missed this week's cover story, we've matched up 32 of Tucson's most famous folks and set them against each other in an effort to find out who you, the Tucson Weekly readership, believe to be the most famous Tucsonan.

That being said, there has been a slight change made to the voting process—the first round of voting is going to be split into two sections. Part one will be up until Monday. Then, we'll switch out to part two, which will be online 'til Wednesday. Voting will then proceed as outlined in "The Tucson Weekly Celebrity Showdown."

If you haven't voted yet, get to it!

YouTube user Etoilec1 recreated parts of the "Gangam Style" video in the form of a flip book! The lip movement and dancing is really accurate and impressive.

Whoever made this video must have a lot of patience and way too much time on their hands. I didn't even have the patience to count past the eighth book they used.

Etoilec1 usually uploads flibook versions of Dragon Ball Z episodes on his page. Which is cool—if you're into that kind of stuff I guess.

While I've taken it as my solemn duty to remember the many who's lives were entirely destroyed/kinda inconvenienced as a result of #TucsonBlizzard 2013, this time lapse video is probably the coolest thing to have come from one of the many Tucsonans who survived, (henceforth known as The Orphans of Sonoran Superstorm Sofia).

Great work out there, fellow Orphan. May we Never Forget.
