I'm terrible at compiling year-end lists of anything. Either I have wildly incomplete knowledge on a subject (I don't have HBO or Showtime at home and I keep forgetting to watch Breaking Bad, so take anything I say about the "best" anything on TV with a grain of salt) or I tend to forget what I watched or listen to over a span of a few months. So, when I saw that The Awl's list of the best internet videos of 2011 was topped by "Game Deaths", a BoingBoing compilation of life's end as seen through old video games, I assumed I had posted this brilliant clip on The Range at some point. I remember watching and enjoying it and I tend to post nearly anything I like, even if it's just for a few moments, but searching our archives, it appears it slipped through ether of internet time. So, in case this didn't make it to The Range already, here you go.

This seems like a vast improvement over my general "throw it in a bag with tissue paper" gift-wrapping policy.

For more than 40 years, the Cerreta Candy Company has been a fixture in Arizona. Patriarch James Cerreta, 84, is still going strong at the head of the company that has seen every member of his family be a part of the business.
Cerreta and his sons, each leading a section of production on the company floor, and his granddaughter talk about what keeps them coming back for more.
Cerreta Candy Company is located in Glendale, Ariz., and is a fixture in many city-related events and provides VIP and general tours for the public.

Since Mr. Khloe Kardashian was traded to a different NBA team the other day, I think that means another city will be subjected to the Kardashians. This is terrible, terrible news, but fortunately it's only Dallas.

Emma tops the recently released list of the most popular baby names for 2011, which means every other kid entering kindergarten in 2016 will be fighting for the lunchbox marked with the letter E.
The most popular list of baby names is released annually by BabyCenter.com and it can be a very helpful tool for parents — when it comes to knowing what not to name their kids going forward.
Top names for 2011 for little girls kick off with Emma, and then continue through the top five with other names ending in A. Emma is followed by Olivia, Sophia, Isabella and Ava. Taking up the rear through slot number eight are Madison, Emily and Ella.
Mason tops of the list of popular little boy names, followed by Liam, Noah, Ethan and Jacob. Aiden, Jackson and Logan complete the top eight.
This is not to say that any of these names are not beautiful or cool. One of my childhood cat’s three names was Mason and Jimi Hendrix really belts it out when he’s screaming for “Izabella” (although the name has an alternate spelling).

The Cub Scouts of Pack 261 are visiting the Tucson Weekly offices today to learn about how a weekly newspaper is put together. We don't get all that many tour groups through here, so this merits a blog post, right? Thanks for coming by, Scouts!

I suppose if your husband is the head of Rovio, the company behind Angry Birds, and you're invited to a formal dinner celebrating Finland's birthday, it only makes sense to wear an dress themed to the game. After all, the game is a legitimate phenomenon and probably the biggest Finnish cultural export in recent memory other than a stream of high quality metal band. Still, it's a little weird to have a giant eye on your clothing. It makes it hard to know where to look.

Gingerbread houses always seem sort of magical, but I'm not sure why. The only memory I have of them is eating stale gingerbread house roof and dessicated frosting weeks after the tree had been stuffed back into storage for another year. Yet, whenever I see one I feel a slight tingling of holiday spirit, which feels a little like coming down with the flu.
This is not the proper way to appreciate a gingerbread house. The mere sight of one should cause us to don Christmas sweaters and sing carols while tossing tinsel in the air, and Marcos Bakery can help with all that.
The bakery at 3308 E. Grant Road is currently taking reservations for their annual gingerbread-house-making workshops on Saturday, Dec. 10 and 17. The workshops are $40 each, which includes supplies. Call 292-8567 for reservations.
