In the interest of being "fair and balanced", Fox did call the White House for a comment, however, for some reason, they haven't heard back.

While I enjoy the Fox News parody material that makes up most of the Onion News Network program on IFC, if morning chat shows were more like Today Now!, I might actually tune in, even though the male host frightens me.

If Stephen Colbert didn't mine quite enough material from Jon Kyl's loose attachment to truth last night, he's definitely going for the gusto on his Twitter feed right now. I feel like I'm learning so much about outgoing Senator Kyl that's it's hard to continue to have much respect for him, although since Kyl was the mastermind of the Rio Nuevo project and spent all the money building the world's largest pinball table at his Dubai mansion*, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

* Not intended to be a factual statement.

Colbert finds U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl's explanation that his wildly false claim about Planned Parenthood "was not intended to be a factual statement" to be "an amazingly liberating defense." Plus, the folks at Fox & Friends explain that pap smears and breast cancer screenings are available at your neighborhood Walgreens.

You really can't make this stuff up. Well, unless you're Jon Kyl.

Now that USA Today will start paying bonuses based on page views, we can expect more stories like these:

There was a time when Arizona Sen. John McCain was stuck in the dark ages when it came to computer technology. During his 2008 presidential campaign, the GOP nominee said he didn't use e-mail.

Snooki from Jersey Shore changed all that for McCain. Now McCain's one of the top social media users in Congress, and Twitter has become the veteran senator's best friend.

"We get a much larger response from twittering something than we get from a regular press release," McCain told reporters today at a breakfast sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor. "It is fundamentally restructuring the whole nature of information and how it is dispensed in America."

McCain said his now-famous Twitter exchange with Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi from the popular MTV show about a tax on tanning salons in the nation's health care law got him more news coverage than any statement he's ever made about foreign policy or the military — two of his fields of expertise.

BTW, as we cut funding for schools, healthcare, daycare and everything else besides prisons, can someone remind us again why we should never consider taxing tanning salons?

A bold prediction from Philadelphia blogger Joel Mathis:

My prediction is this: Within two years, Glenn Beck remakes himself as a David Brock/Arianna Huffington lefty 'disillusioned' with the right. He'll be so good at it that liberals will ... like him. Beck's left himself plenty of escape hatches along the way, with the "rodeo clown just trying to understand stuff" routine he does. He'll say: "Well, I understand now! And once Fox realized I was going places that weren't in line with GOP orthodoxy, they got rid of me!"

This seems shockingly plausible, but if Beck does make that turn, it would likely be one of the most shocking changes in attitude and perspective in television history, challenging even 1996's Bash on the Beach:

Maybe it's a little strange, but when Glenn Beck announced he will end his daily television show this week, I was mostly excited to see what Jon Stewart would say. You can watch the entire episode on the Daily Show's website.

Bill Buckmaster, who left his longtime anchor gig at KUAT-TV's Arizona Illustrated to launch a new radio show at the beginning of 2011, is moving to a new station. The details:

First, let me thank you for your support of my work over the years and especially over the past four months. I am delighted to report your response has been outstanding, with many of you saying a program presenting the facts and both sides of the issues has been long overdue on Arizona Radio. Now, I have a wonderful opportunity to expand the reach of the program, allowing us to have our show be heard by all Southern Arizonans.

As of June 1, the Buckmaster Show will have a new home on KVOI, “The Voice” AM 1030. The station has one of the strongest AM signals in Arizona. In addition, our program will also be simulcast on two other stations with outstanding reach, KAPR AM 930 in Douglas and KJAA AM 1240 in Globe.

Buckmaster, who has been doing a great job of bringing local issues to light and giving a wide variety of voices a chance to speak out, will remain on KJLL for the rest of this month and take May off to retool the show before starting up again in June.

I feel like Glenn Beck will likely end up getting his own 24 hour cable network of insanity and gold infomericals if he leaves Fox, but I can understand why Stephen Colbert would be distressed to have to TiVo another channel for material.

Characterized as one of the most provocative intellectuals in America. Dr. Cornel West wears many hats: 1943 professor in the Center for African American Studies at Princeton University, distinguished author, speaker, and champion of racial and social justice. In all of his incarnations he says he weaves together “the traditions of the black Baptist church, progressive politics, and jazz.”

“You can’t lead the people if you don’t love the people. You can’t save the people if you won’t serve the people,” said Emily Fritze, the student body president at the UA.

Fritze opened the event, quoting the words of the man whom she said had inspired her.

West reiterated the quote as he took the stage to a rousing ovation from the crowd at Centennial Hall. Throughout the entire talk, they exploded in applause, cheers and laughter for his electrifying words and mannerisms.

His talk entitled, “Borders to Democracy,” part of the “Who Draws the Line? Social Justice Perspectives on Diversity” series drew a diverse crowd of university students and community members.
