First off, I wasn't aware that Kidz Bop was still actually a thing.

Secondly, while I'm not surprised that "Thrift Shop" is popular enough to include on here (along with Taylor Swift breakup song "I Knew You Were Trouble," a few songs by the ever-so-child-friendly Pitbull, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Can't Hold Us"), it was pretty well neutered by the Kidz Bop "Kidz," who don't sound like children so much as they do pitch-shifted adults.

I mean, they can't even say "I'm gonna pop some tags," changing it to "rock some tags" — does "pop" have some sort of violent, drug-addled meaning here I'm unaware of? Ugh.

Anyway, as the adage goes, we often hurt the ones we love.

Let us love you.

According to Wikipedia, these songs are also butchered given the Kidz Bop treatment on the 24th volume of the series, in stores July 16:

1. "Thrift Shop" Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz
2. "I Knew You Were Trouble" Taylor Swift
3. "Suit & Tie" Justin Timberlake feat. Jay Z
4. "Beauty and a Beat" Justin Bieber feat. Nicki Minaj
5. "Ho Hey" The Lumineers
6. "Come & Get It" Selena Gomez
7. "Feel This Moment" Pitbull feat. Christina Aguilera
8. "Scream & Shout" Will.i.am feat. Britney Spears
9. "Girl on Fire" Alicia Keys
10. "I Love It" Icona Pop feat. Charli XCX
11. "Can't Hold Us" Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton
12. "Heart Attack" Demi Lovato
13. "Mirrors" Justin Timberlake
14. "22" Taylor Swift
15. "Just Give Me A Reason" Pink feat. Nate Ruess (fun.)
16. "Don't Stop The Party" Pitbull feat. TJR

British indie-rock act (that seems to be a bit too limiting of a description for what the band does, but oh well) Foals are coming to the Rialto on August 7, in the midst of a summer that has them seemingly all the festivals, including Bonnaroo last weekend and Metallica's Orion Festival the week before. Here's the new video, which does include female nudity, if you work at a place that frowns on that sort of thing, for "Bad Habit," the fourth single (if that were really still a thing) from their most recent album Holy Fire.

You will see this video everywhere on the internet at some point in the near future, but you should watch it now, because it is beautiful and inspiring. Plus, those kids can really play.

Complete with a soundtrack of Starbuck's "Moonlight Feels Right," the sight of Kenny Stewart in particularly revealing undergarments, and ...Music Video?'s Paul Jenkins doing some excellent dancing with his hands, the promo video for Thursday's Yacht Rock 2013 party at La Cocina is now online for your enjoyment.

I don't know if it's quite as emotionally evocative as last year's tribute to the video for Michael McDonald's "Sweet Freedom," but it's still worth a view (or twelve).

As I've said before, I'm a big damn fan of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis's debut album, The Heist, which I'll go ahead and say was one of the best albums of 2012.

But this arrangement of my favorite song on the album, "Can't Hold Us," is just impressive. It's a damn good, incredibly accurate (compare it to the original version, if you have any doubts) take on a hell of a tune.

(Full disclosure: the composer of these arrangements is a friend of mine — but I wouldn't be posting this on here if I didn't think it was actually damn good. So, uh, good job there, bud.)

DJ BC is yet another one of those guys out there who's becoming famous for his abilities in smashing together two relatively disparate songs and coming up with something wonderful — not unlike Danger Mouse (the man behind the Jay-Z/Beatles mashup, The Grey Album, Gnarls Barkley and Broken Bells), actually.

BC, however, has been sticking to his wheelhouse in putting together his second mixtape of music from the Beastles, entitled Ill Submarine.

The tune below is the title track of that mixtape, featuring a sonic collision between the classic Ringo Starr vocal showcase "Yellow Submarine" and the Beastie Boys's "Alive," off of their 1999 compilation album Beastie Boys Anthology: The Sounds of Science

The rest of the mixtape is set to drop this month, if Apple Records doesn't crush it out of existence.

Despite the title, this video isn't actually about animals fighting — it's more about glitter and that dry, paint-dust stuff that people throw at color runs, and people "throwing down" (read: in choreographed fights) while wearing silly, fuzzy jumpsuits with hoods.

This weird video, produced by the folks at Nerdist, features the somewhat-catchy tune "The Underdog" by Wallpaper, allowing for animal tie-ins.

The video appears to have also been bankrolled, in part, by kigurumi-shop.com, which is all about selling you silly, animal-inspired feety-pajamas (in a related note, it appears I have now finished all of my Christmas shopping, so mission accomplished, Nerdist).
