Cleveland's Mr. Gnome are coming to Club Congress on Wednesday, Nov. 26 to promote their sublime new album The Heart of a Dark Star, which comes out about a week before. The group has a strange and beautiful live show and their new album captures a lot of that feel, with layers of guitars, organs and Nicole Barille's vocals.
If the track above piques your interest, the full album is streaming at NPR's First Listen.

OK, so that occasional and extremely lo-fi series taking place at a bar near you continues with Tucson musician Amochip Dabney, founder of the Amosphere, a tight and talented group of musicians who perform blues, New Orleans, reggae, rock and many of Amo's own. He's fun to talk with, but you better figure out a time to catch his band. They have a loyal following for a reason—and please don't be afraid to dance. People, when did that become a thing?
A great place to see Amosphere is at the Boondocks, which is where we met up with Amo and his partner, Jill Davis-Nunes, for some Bloody Marys and beers. They have a show at the Boondocks coming up Nov. 21. If you can't make that, get to Maker House on Nov. 14, Whiskey Tango on Nov. 15 or the eastside Sakura on Nov. 28.
And to keep in touch with his shows and music, visit his band's Facebook page or Amo's website, amochip.me.

Best of Tucson winner KXCI is embarking on an interesting project this month, giving listeners an opportunity to pick the 913 Greatest Songs Ever, via a ballot of 320 songs every five days until they get through the entire catalog of popular recorded music (or something like it). You have today and tomorrow to pick your 15 to 50 favorites from the first batch, which runs from "#41" by Dave Matthews Band (no) to the Grateful Dead's "Dark Star" (maybe), with incredible Dan Gibson approved tracks like "(Don't Go Back to) Rockville" by R.E.M., "Ceremony" by New Order and Freda Payne's "Band of Gold" in between. A bonus, a lucky voter will win a $200 Visa gift card along with the joy of being part of such an extensive project.
The winners will air as part of a countdown on KXCI from Dec. 1 through Dec. 5.
Here's the ballot. More info at kxci.org.

The Ninth Annual Gem & Jam Festival is coming up sooner than you think, hitting the Slaughterhouse concert space (I think they're calling it The Green or something, but who knows?) on February 6, 7 and 8, 2015 and the lineup hit the internet today.
Alex and Alyson Grey headline the event, painting and speaking all three days. Alex Grey is a psychedelic and spiritual artist who's the subject of one of the best sentences ever to appear on Wikipedia:
Grey's paintings have been featured in venues as diverse as the album art of Tool, The String Cheese Incident, Meshuggah, the Beastie Boys and Nirvana, Newsweek magazine, the Discovery Channel, Rave flyers and sheets of blotter acid.
Plus, there's music. Lots and lots of music from a diverse array of acts from progressive psychedelic jam act Papadosio to R&B remixer/atmospheric dream-pop artist Giraffage.
Tickets for the 2015 event are on sale now, with a special $99/three day pass available in limited quantities. More info at www.gemandjamfestival.com.

Atlanta music writer Ethan Padgett put together a Soundcloud (mostly) Southern rap mixtape for Halloween that's possibly not for everyone, but if you want to hear some Three 6 Mafia and Waka Flocka Flame horror-themed tracks, go ahead and push play.
The tracklist is below the cut.
Halloween is one of those nights where everyone seems to go out costumed-up to get a drink and Tucson's bars and nightclubs have gone all in on the sorta-holiday, especially Club Congress, which went for a week's worth of events. There are many, many options out there for you, person likely dressed as something involving Ebola, but my three favorites this year are at the Rialto, Flycatcher and Tap & Bottle.
The Rialto is going for a lineup of local music with their Spooky Prom, which also has the bonus of being all-ages. Starting at 7 p.m. for $5, you can see Ghostal, Sun Bones, Numb Bats, Neon Eon, Prom Body and an evening-ending DJ set by Altrice. Plus, because you're required to with these things, there's a costume contest, plus free candy, a photobooth and more. Solid deal all around. For more info, head to rialtotheatre.com.
Also $5, the Flycatcher is hosting "Werewolf Bar Mitzvah," which features costume contests every hour starting at 10 p.m., indoor and outdoor entertainment, plus a Daft Punk tribute. More info at theflycatchertucson.com.
If you want to save the $5 you were going to spend at the Rialto or Flycatcher on admission, head over to Tap & Bottle for their second annual evening "dressing up" the bar as another Tucson watering hole. Last year, it was the Meet Rack, this year, it's the Red Room. Yes, they'll have tater tots, but also a lineup of acts that will be familiar to fans of the late venue next to Grill, including Dante Rosano, Hank Topless, Amy Rude, Golden Boots and more. The event kicks off at 7 p.m. More info at thetapandbottle.com.

It wouldn't appear they have a Facebook or web page yet, but I'm predicting big things for Baltimore's newest tribute act, The Ginger Blossoms, who have their first gig on Friday, November 14 at the Golden West Cafe.
The Ginger Blossoms- Baltimore MD's only all redheaded Gin Blossoms tribute band will be playing their first concert ever on November 14th with friends Needle Points and Teen Men.
The group might be selling itself short already, as some quick Googling would make it appear that there isn't another "all redheaded Gin Blossoms tribute band" anywhere (there are few non-redheaded tribute bands, although they all could use some lessons in SEO), but the real question is, why Baltimore? Shouldn't the epicenter of Gin Blossoms fandom be right here in Arizona?
We'll try to keep up with The Ginger Blossoms and alert you when/if they make it to Tucson (FINGERS CROSSED).

It's almost Halloween, so thankfully, the list-making folks at Britain's FACT magazine have assembled an amazing collection of the "100 Greatest Horror Soundtracks," with selections from "Flesh for Frankenstein" to Goblin's legendary score for "Suspiria." Even better, you can stream the playlist via Youtube (or selections on Spotify).

It's remarkable what Jimmy Fallon gets his guests to do and this time, it's Daniel Radcliffe demonstrating his ability to speed-rap, skillfully taking on Blackalicious' "Alphabet Aerobics."
The original, for comparison.
