The first promotion is on Nov. 9-11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the PetSmart at Oracle and Wetmore, Irvington and at El Con Mall during PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend.
PACC will be waiving adoption fees for pets four months and older. From Nov. 9-12, members of the Military can adopt a pet for free with a valid military ID to celebrate Veterans Day weekend. There will be special hours on Veterans Day, noon-5p.m.
PACC will be closed on Thanksgiving, but open on Black Friday, noon-5 p.m. The “Black Fur Day” discount will take place that day with adoption fees waived for any pets with black fur, ages four months and up.
A $19 licensing fee will apply to dogs and all pets adopted will come spayed and neutered, with a microchip, vaccinations and a free vet visit. Look for pets online or in person at 4000 N. Silverbell. Road.

pumpkin CAT-ch?
You decide which of fuzzy, bundled of love you can't live without!Pima Animal Care Center will be hosting “Pumpkin Patch Adoptions” with trunk-or-treating, games, raffles and costumes (please no masks or weapons as it will scare the animals). The event is on Sunday, Oct. 28, 10 am to 5pm.
The event is part of a “Pumpkin Promo” that starts on Oct. 15th throughout the rest of the month.
“Adopters can come by the shelter where they will find on the bottom of a pumpkin, a discount on pets who are four months or older.”
All pets adopted from PACC come spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, according to PACC. Each adoption also comes free follow-up vet visit.
Can’t make it to the event? Stop by the shelter Monday to Friday 12-7pm or Sat/Sun 10am-5pm at 4000 N. Silverbell Road.

The store, named “Central Pet: Adopt. Shop. Give,” sells treats, bones, food, leashes, collars and everything else your new pet might need.
The shop's prices are competitive with other pet shops in the area, and the best part is that 50 percent of the profits will go towards Friends of the PACC, a nonprofit partner of PACC that is dedicated to saving animals lives and helping find them loving homes.

“Imagine taking a visit to your favorite dog park, watching 25 or 30 dogs run around, joyfully playing with each other,” said Kristen Auerbach, PACC Director of Animal Services. “Now imagine that every one of those dogs is looking for a new family. That’s what play group brings to PACC.”
The program, which runs Sept. 29 to Oct. 17, allows PACC staff and volunteers to learn more about dogs’ personalities in these play groups. DPFL is rooted in the notion that a dog’s natural instinct is to play.
The group says watching the dogs interact with one another is a “more reliable indicator of a dog’s true personality than the dog’s reactions during the intake process.” A dog that may be challenging to handle in the kennel, for example, will often exhibit healthy social skills in a play group.
“Play groups allow dogs to blow off steam and they help us really get to know each and every pup in our care,” Auerbach said. “Dogs are social animals and allowing them to interact helps keep them happy and healthy while they wait for their new families.”
It’s also beneficial to the dogs in other ways:
• They communicate with their peers and humans through playing.
• Socializing the dogs can help them if they are nervous around other dogs.
• The exercise can also help reduce some of the stress from staying in a kennel.
“This will introduce an entirely new way of meeting shelter dogs. Adopters will be able to come to PACC, watch a big group of dogs playing in a realistic, “dog park” setting and choose a dog based on real-life experience, rather than the old way of just seeing dogs in isolated kennels,” Auerbach said.
The training is possible thanks to the PetCo Foundation and the ASPCA.
PACC’s shelter, located at 4000 N. Silverbell Road, is open Monday through Friday, noon to 7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

Proceeds from the event will provide equine therapy for disabled children and veterans in need. TROT has licensed riding instructors and therapists, along with 13 specially trained horses, with the mission of enriching the lives of people with special needs by improving their physical, mental, social and emotional well being.
There will be a silent auction, a live auction and a BBQ dinner, along with music and dancing with the Clean Country Band. Tickets are $85 for adults and $30 for children 11 and younger. This is a rain or shine event.

People can celebrate National Dog Week in a variety of ways at Pima Animal Care Center:
Overnight/day trips: Foster a dog overnight or during the day for a few hours. A form of identification must be presented in order for the dog to leave the facility. Short-term fosters can take the dogs to the park, to get a snack, or to go for a run. PACC does ask that interactions with strange dogs are limited. If you’d like to foster, you can start by filling out the required forms.
Donating: A donation can go a long way at PACC. It can be a bag of dog food, a cat bed, or a monetary donation. Funds can help provide food, treats, toys, bedding or even medical treatment. One easy way to donate is by checking PACC’s Amazon Wish List.
Volunteering: Nothing at PACC would be possible if it weren’t for the help of the dedicated volunteers. There are a variety of ways to volunteer including walking dogs, feeding cats, cleaning pets and cages in the clinic, and more.
Adopt: For dogs six months and older, the price is now $15. The price for under six months is $25. In addition to the adoption fee, there is a $19 licensing fee for dogs. The total price includes spay or neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip and a free vet visit.
