This little cat is not quite wearing a full tuxedo, but looks as cute as ever with that little white spot. Do you have room in your family for a furry feline friend?

If you’ve been looking to expand your family with a new pet, you’re in luck: Pima Animal Care Center is offering a chance to bring a four-legged friend home sans adoption fee.
As part of the nationwide
Clear the Shelters drive, PACC is waiving adoption fees for pets adopted from July 30 to Aug. 18. Adult dogs will still require a $19 licensing fee.
The
national adoption campaign, led by NBCUniversal owned television stations, has helped over 150,000 pets find homes since its launch in 2015. The drive comes at a time when the Tucson shelter is nearing capacity with over 700 pets, Shelter director Kristen Auerbach said in a press release.
You can meet these pets in person at the shelter, 4000 N. Silverbell Road, or
online. Adopted pets will come with one free vet visit, vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered.
Want to learn more about pet adoption and the issues pet shelters face? Tune in to KHRR-TV Channel 40 Tucson on Aug. 18 to see a special day-long program from Telemundo.

Raising money for the Humane Society of Southern Arizona is always a good way to help local animals in need. Recently, the HSSA gathered donations and some pretty impressive art at the same time through their Tatts for Tails Animal Tattoo Contest.
The competition challenged Tucson locals to submit a photo of their animal themed tattoo and then gain paid votes to raise money for the HSSA and hopefully win the grand prize.
And the winner is....
Tyler Crawford with his tattoo of his HSSA-adopted dog Luna!

Tyler Crawford and his dog Luna
Tyler raised an amazing $1,279 through his submission and votes, which helped the HSSA reach their grand total of $5,046 raised.
Here's what Tyler had to say about Luna (in both ink and dog form)

Luna in ink and dog form
This is my tattoo of my dog Luna. Me and my wife got her from the Humane Society in 2012. She is sweet girl who loves to eat, chase lizards and cuddle her brother Bane. When we first saw her she was sitting in a loud room of barking dogs yet she was sitting quietly. She was leaned against the wall looking sad and she seemed interested in us so I wanted to meet her. When she first came out she tackled me and kissed me instantly. From then on I knew she was coming home. Little did we know, that sad face... yeah she always looks grumpy unless she’s hot haha. She is a special girl to me and she will always have a place in my heart and on my calf. Tattoo was done by Kevin at Trinity Art Collective.
Congratulations to Tyler on winning the contest and the grand prize of two roundtrip domestic flights on JetBlue Airlines, $100 gift card to Buffalo Exchange, $100 gift card to Target and an REI Road Tripper 40L Duffel Bag.
Thank you to all who participated in the competition and helped raise money to help the animals at HSSA.

Last week, Build-A-Bear Workshop's pay-your-age event, which promised to sell bears for the same cost of children's ages, sent kids home bear-handed as the event garnered more customers than the company could handle.
Local authorities were called to some of the store's locations as the crowds became unruly in response to the excessive wait times. The Washington Post reported that some wait times extended seven hours in some locations.
The company said that it would have been impossible for them to predict such a large response to the event, and sent some waiting customers home with $15 vouchers for future visits to make up for the un-bear-able wait times.
Customers fought back arguing that Build-A-Bear should not have been so blind sided by the large consumer response, as the event featured significant price drops on the furry friends.
Build-A-Bear later announced that they would still honor the pay-your-age deal, but only on birthdays as a part of their "Count Your Candles" program.
To take advantage of the pay-your-age deal, a Build-a-Bear Bonus Club membership is required, and it is is only good for children 14 years of age or younger.
