It's time to get your hagglin' boots on because Big Heap is finally expanding down from Flagstaff and Phoenix an down into the Old Pueblo this year. On April 11 and 12, the flea market festival will take over Old Tucson Studios, located at 201 S. Kinney Road, with vintage, antique and handmade goods.

If the event is anything like the ones that our northerly neighbors throw, you can expect a near-overwhelming number of purveyors offering up the odd and unique to throngs of digging deal finders. According to the fest's website, the three-city event will "bring a love of good design, foreign bazaars, new experiences, cool people and antiques, all together in one place."

As of now, over 50 vendors are expected at the inaugural Tucson event. If you're interested in setting up shop and selling your one-of-a-kind wares at the event, you can sign up on the Big Heap website

However, for those just looking for some new-to-you decor essentials and closet staples from yesteryear, you can hit up the event both days from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The event is $5 to attend and will likely be even better than the others, which have been called "vintage Woodstock," because, as we all know, the thrifting is better in Tucson anyways. Happy hunting.

If you're looking to snag a deal on a new guitar, parts, or cases, Doc Hudson Guitars is moving locations soon, but before they do, they're trying to offload as much inventory as possible.

Here's what Doc Hudson said about the move and sale via Facebook:

Due to a number of factors, we are moving to a new location. We'd rather sell what is in The Shop at considerable savings to the client than have to move it to the new location, so, Tomorrow [Saturday, Jan. 10] Sunday [Jan. 9], and all the following week we are having a relocation/sidewalk sale. Great Deals to be had on a variety of items including Guitars, cases, leatherwork, fixtures, storage cabinets, parts, instruments, accessories, etc.
Doc Hudson's current location is at 509A South Fourth Avenue. Happy hunting, gear heads.

For the seventh year in a row, Mercado San Agustin is giving Tucson the opportunity to shop one-of-a-kind and handmade wares from local vendors, rather than buying generic mall junk. With over 50 vendors slotted to sell scarves, jewelry, art, and other tchotchkes on Friday, Dec. 19 through Sunday, Dec 21, the Mercado’s Nicky Freegard says it will be the biggest vendor turnout in the event’s history.

Freegard says size isn’t everything this year, though, as the event will also feature new artists. While live entertainment and food trucks aren’t on the roster for 2014’s Holiday Bazaar, there will be plenty of shopping to keep you occupied and tenants in the Mercado, including Agustin Kitchen, Seis Kitchen, Stella Java, and La Estrella Bakery, will be open during the event to serve hungry patrons. Blu Wine & Cheese Shop is also offering special Christmas packages for sale.

Vendors include Lila Clare Jewelry, Power & Light Press, Collected Artifacts, Allegiant Leather, Popcycle, Seams To Sew, BICAS art, and more. Tucson baker Bavier Garst will be baking holiday pies on site for sale as well.

The Bazaar runs Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on all three days at 100 South Avenida del Convento. The event is free to attend.

The Internet has found another way to get me to buy more clothing I don't need. My wardrobe is comprised of obscure internet t-shirts from Threadless and Six Dollar shirts. My Internet-friend Spencer got this Pizza Sounds Good Dough shirt that's inspired by Wu-Tang Clan's C.R.E.A.M. lyrics. The front shows PSGD over the Wu-Tang logo with pepperoni slices and the back reads, "Pizza rules everything around me."

Tired of crawling under the Christmas tree to check and fill the water? You should consider backing Thomas West's "dipstick" Kickstarter campaign. West is trying to raise $1,500 to build a Macgyver-like device that will measure the water levels and refill without having to get on your hands and knees.

This makes me want to retire my scooter, buy a Dodge Durango and play jazz flute.

Dodge
released the first six ads with WIll Ferrell as the greatest fictional news anchor of all time, Ron Burgundy. This is a cross promotion for the highly anticipated Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues that's schedule to hit theaters in December. Expect more internet exclusive advertising, vines and skits to hit soon. I'm glad because I don't have cable or watch anything on a television anymore.

I can't decide which ad I like best because they all go down smooth. Check out all the videos here:

The streetwear brand and proud Tucsonans over at The Underestimated City have pulled up stakes and closed down their downtown shop at 115 E. Broadway Boulevard.

TUC (see what they did there?) actually announced the closure via their social media avenues on July 16, with this post from Israel Zavala, owner at TUC:

As this may come as a big surprise to everyone it was a huge surprise to us as well. Do to uncontrollable circumstances with our lease and hard times with the down town construction. We are force to close our doors after almost 3years. Sunday July 28th will mark the last days we have our doors open to the public. The sale starts this Saturday at noon and will go on while supply's last. I want to thank everyone that has supported and shown us love. Couldn't thank you enough. Closing down something I've put my blood sweat and tears into is one of the hardest things I've had to do. So again THANK YOU all for everything -iz-

But in speaking with Zavala, we learned that TUC may be down, but they're not out just yet. Their final sale resulted in all of their stock flying off of the shelves. The demand for their products, however, still seems to be there — and they seem to be hinting at something forthcoming, noting in an exchange on Facebook posted last week that they'll be selling new shirts within the next few weeks, "before the season starts" —  referring to University of Arizona football, we presume.

Adding to the idea that TUC is still alive is the note that, in conversation, Zavala didn't sound too beat-up about the closure of the downtown space, though he did mention that downtown's current state didn't help them too much. "Once the new restaurants opened up, they took almost all of the parking away — we were still making money, it just wasn't thriving as well down there" he said, noting the ever-present streetcar construction as a factor as well.

Apparently, the plan going forward is just to regroup and figure out TUC's next move. "We're putting little hints here and there, man — we're not revealing what we're doing...we're not completely out for good though. People have their own assumptions that we're out of business, so we'll let them make it."

Whether this means that The Underestimated City is going to open up in a new location or if they'll be moving away from a permanent brick-and-mortar concept entirely remains to be seen, however.

Everyone knows the story of Monica Lewinsky, President Bill Clinton's then-23-year-old intern with whom he had an "improper relationship." But, Clinton wasn't the only married man stepping out with Lewinsky.

Her high school drama instructor, Andy Bleiler, admitted to starting an affair with Lewinsky in 1992 (after she started college, which makes it a little bit better, I guess?), continuing partway through her affair with the president.

Letters, clothes, autographed pictures of the Clintons and other gifts from Lewinsky (or, as she signed her name, "Monstreeka") to Bleiler and his family were reviewed during the investigation about the affair with Clinton. Now, Kate Nason (Bleiler's now ex-wife), has offered up the goodies for history nerds and Clinton fangirls to fight over in an online auction For just a little bit more than $3,000, it can all be yours.

The auction ends at 5 p.m. on Thursday. If you win, I'm willing to buy one of the letters off you.
