The Color Run is coming back to Tucson on Dec. 21 at the Pima County Fairgrounds and the Weekly is teaming up with the people from KIND Healthy Snacks (and while I generally dislike anything involving the world "healthy" especially considering I just ate an entire bag of gummy watermelon sour somethings, HAVE YOU TRIED THE APPLE CINNAMON PECAN BAR?) to give you and a friend free tickets to participate in the fun.

So, here's what you have to do: Go to the Twitter and hit @tucsonweekly AND @kindsnacks up with a tweet with your favorite song to run to. Bonus points if it included a color in the title (or get crazy with it and pick a song with a color in the title BY a band with a color in their name like The Big Pink's "Stay Gold!" BOOM!). Include the hashtag #kindawesome because the KIND people asked us to and they were nice enough to give us tickets so why not? We'll pick a winner on December 12 and you and the friend of your choice will be in the Color Run for free (a $90 value, which is something).

Arizona's football team got curbstomped on the field Saturday night in Tempe, losing 58-21 to Arizona State for the Wildcats' worst loss in the Territorial Cup series since 1996.

But the night wasn't a total loss, as the NSFW video above shows.

The Arizona Cardinals whooped the Indiana Colts 40-11 yesterday afternoon. After four straight wins, the Cards are firmly seeded in the NFC playoff picture.

Nothing about Sunday's game was close. The Cardinals dominated a first place team in every way that mattered, taking a 27-3 lead into the halftime break and extending it to 34-3 before the Colts finally reached the end zone. The game was out of hand pretty much from the beginning, which allowed some fans to apparently leave as the third quarter came to an end.

About 9,000 cyclists came out to ride in the 31st annual El Tour de Tucson despite consistent rainfall and overcast skies. Sabino Creek eventually had to be closed midway through the race because of flooding, but that didn't stop fans from coming out to support the cyclists. The 2013 El Tour had the sixth most registered riders in its history and marks the first time the race has seen rain.

This year's El Tour also had the inauspicious distinction of having the second only tour-related fatality when a rider was struck on Interstate 10 and Sunset Road, story on KOLD News Now here.

I've railed about the idiocy that is the Arizona Interscholastic Association before, and with good reason.

But nothing compares to fuck shit stack of a decision the state's high school athletics governing body made today when they decided to POSTPONE EVERY FOOTBALL PLAYOFF GAME scheduled for tonight and Saturday because of ... egads!!!!! Rain.

Yes, rain.

Not lightning. Not duststorms. Not snow, frigid temperatures, or anything really dangerous.

Nope, just rain.

I've covered high school football games in Arizona since 1995, and I have NEVER seen a game postponed for anything other than lightning. Rain? Really? What the fuck?

It's been a good week for FC Tucson and the soccer community in Southern Arizona.

Last Friday the wildly successful amateur club debuted its brand-spanking-new stadium at the Kino Sports Complex by defeating an MLS team, Los Angeles-based Chivas USA, before more than 2,400 fans.

And this morning the locally owned franchise of the United Soccer League's Premier Development League tier announced the 11 MLS clubs that will train and/or play preseason matches in Tucson in February and March.

Five pro teams will play friendlies against each other here prior to the start of the third edition of the Desert Diamond Cup, which will feature FC Tucson and MLS clubs Chicago Fire, Chivas USA, Colorado Rapids, New England Revolution and Real Salt Lake in a series of tripleheaders between Feb. 19 and March 1.

When the Harlem Globetrotters aren't solving crimes with Scooby Doo, they are breaking world records.

Yesterday Globetrotter rookie Cory 'Thunder' Law smashed the official Guinness World Records® record for the longest basketball shot at the US Airways in Phoenix. Law made the shot from 109 feet 7 inches from the basket. The previous record was was set three years ago at 104 feet 7 inches.

El Tour de Tucson is right around the corner, and it's a big deal for a lot of people in this city. Don't you want to know how it all started? Filmmaker Justin Kreinbrink is trying to crowdfund $13,000 to complete filming his El Tour de Tucson: Live the Adventure! documentary. He's currently sitting at $580 and with nine days to go until the campaign is over.

Avid cyclist Richard DeBernardis was riding the perimeter of Tucson, Arizona, in 106-degree heat. Having previously cycled the perimeter of Japan, as well as the continental United States, the concept of a perimeter ride wasn't new to him. However, as he rode through the scenic Tucson mountains, he couldn't help but be drawn to the city. As he found himself thinking back on all of the adventures he had during his previous perimeter rides, Richard realized many of those elements were in Tucson. The man with a thirst for adventure and thriving on sharing those adventures with others, he could come to only one conclusion - "This would be a great ride to open up for people."

And in that moment, the cycling event known world-wide, El Tour de Tucson, was born.

Kreinbrink is says he's going to use the funds to purchase speciality equipment, post production equipment, filming insurance and travel expenses. I'm glad they are taking care of their own food and board. Pledge incentives include digital copies, t-shirts, and posters. You can also buy an executive producer credit. The project description has a great pitch, and gives good insight on the history of the tour. I think the biggest problem is facing this promising film is indiegogo. I don't dislike the crowdfunding platform (Kickstarter has a lot of issues as well), but it's just not a good website to raise money. I can see how indiegogo is useful for charities, and people who don't mind settling.

When I walked up to the new FC Tucson stadium on the northwest corner of the Kino Sports Complex at Country Club and Ajo, the first thing that crossed my mind was "Wait, this got built in Tucson?" It's a really smartly built space, with a great looking field, a plaza with plenty of places to grab a beer, a barbecue ready to crank out brats and Sonoran dogs, and covered bleachers with a great sound system that seem set up to create a loud and fun atmosphere. It's a really great place to see a soccer match and one that's perfectly sized (2,500) for where the game is at here in Tucson.

So, you should go see FC Tucson play MLS team Chivas USA tonight. Tickets are affordable enough ($12-$18) and you'll have a good time. We've managed to run every other non-high school/college sporting entity out of town, it might be worth giving this one a little extra love.

And then there were four.

The 2013 high school football season began way back on Aug. 23, when defending Division II champion Ironwood Ridge played Peoria Liberty on a Friday night that saw the game go until midnight because of delays caused by our trusty monsoon weather.

Ironwood Ridge was one of more than 30 schools from Southern Arizona to play football this season, with 14 of them making the playoffs that began last week.

Now, only four remain. And three of them face a very tough road this weekend.
