If you needed a reason to stay home tonight, this is it. Tonight's animated episode of the Community might look familiar to some of you children of the 80s. The show will pay homage to the Hasbro 30-minute toy commercial affectionately known as G.I. Joe.

From Spin Off:

In tonight’s mostly animated episode, titled “G.I. Jeff” and directed by Scud the Disposable Assassin creator Rob Schrab and written by Dino “Starburns” Stamatopoulos, the main characters all adapt Joe-esque identities — Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) is “Wingman,” Britta (Gillian Jacobs) is “Buzzkill,” Abed (Danny Pudi) is “Fourth Wall,” Annie (Alison Brie) is “Tight Ship” and Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) is “Three Kids.”

Check out clips from the episode, below the cut.

They're old, fat and still bickering with each other.

Kenny Hotz and Spencer Rice are trying to make a comeback and bring their crude antics to Netflix Canada. The show originally aired on Canadian television and had a brief run on Comedy Central in the states. The Canadian comedy duo are embarking on a limited tour through Canada, and this has caused their fans to rally together and try to get the attention of the Internet movie subscription site:

It's been four years since the last episode of Kenny vs. Spenny aired, so it's a wonder that people still care at this point. I don't doubt that Kenny and Spenny can out do their previous disgustingly hilarious antics, but my taste in television has changed since high school. The viral campaign has yet to get any kind of statement from Netflix.

Remember the days when the American tradition of Sunday evening television viewing was getting in your pajamas early, sinking your hands into that big bowl of popcorn your mom made and settling in for Wide World of Disney?

What a country we had back then before Nixon tore it all apart. But I guess there's something to say about being older and creating new traditions, which often includes cable TV we can't really afford and TV sets you can lift with your big toe. You entertain the kids with stories about Saturdays being the only days you watched cartoons on only three channels, and the TV was this gigantic wood-paneled Zenith monster the cat liked to sleep on.

Yes, simpler times ... but then we wouldn't be able to have HBO's True Detective and get immersed in an addictive Southern Gothic hell with detectives portrayed by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Tonight's final episode of the show's first season will hopefully make every story line come full circle and not — absolutely not — a flat circle.

No relief cruising through TV reviews internets offering their predictions on what happens, who is the spaghetti-scar man and the Tuttles and how connected are they to the people around Rust and Martin. Don't worry, no spoilers from me. But I did happen to like the take from folks at Happy Nice Time People, time being a flat circle and all.

Read it all here with some McConaughey dialogue to go with it:

It’s all right. “True Detective” doesn’t need to be approached with 3000-word theories about how the scarred man is a child’s description of Cthulhu. This is just a detective show set in Louisiana. That’s all it is. The dialogue is sharp and McConaughey desperately wants people to know he can act, but the show itself is quite simple. It’s well made, but it’s old-fashioned. It’s not going to subvert anything.

I do know I'm going to miss McConaughey and Harrelson. Proof if you build a show in kudzu-soaked Louisiana, they will come. The next season will feature new actors and a new storyline. Maybe next up is Maine and a few Stephen King cameos.

It's a good week to be a professional poker player with connections to Tucson.

Two of the region's most successful players, both of whom have moved on to greener (get it?) pastures, are making headlines for their feats in parts abroad.

Late Sunday night saw the biggest online poker tournament of the weekend go to Sean Getzwiller, who topped a field of more than 7,700 people in Poker Stars' Sunday Million event. The victory earned Getzwiller, who spends part of the year outside of the country (thus being able to play online poker under the moniker "wormnorton"), earned $232,000 for his troubles.

The haul actually isn't even close to the biggest win for Getzwiller, 36, who in 2011 bested a field of nearly 4,200 players to win a $1,000 buy-in World Series of Poker event for $611,000.

While Getzwiller is taking it down at the tables, another player with local ties is trying to win big in a completely different arena: the reality television world.

Garrett Adelstein, a Mountain View High School graduate who splits his time between Scottsdale and Los Angeles cash games, is one of 18 contestants on the 28th (!!!) edition of Survivor. Set in Cagayan, Phillipines, the 27-year-old will attempt to overcome a field that includes lots of muscly and buxom competitors — as well as former NBA player Cliff Robinson — for whatever prize the show gives out. I don't know, if it's not King of the Nerds it's not something I pay attention to.

Adelstein hasn't made any big splashes in the poker world, but he's had some close calls. The most notable was in 2010 when he was among the chip leaders late in the WSOP Main Event, only to see him overplay some hands and finish 222nd to win about $48,000.

Nothing is going right for the epic PR failure that is the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. The most noteworthy scene from the opening ceremony was the technical difficulty when the fifth Olympic ring failed to unfold. Let the games begin?

Jay Leno will finally host his last Tonight Show episode, again. Leno took over hosting duties from the legendary Johnny Carson 22 years ago in May. Leno's first guest ever was none other than Billy Crystal, so it's fitting that the actor/comedian will be his last. Now that the late night talk show wars are over, we can take some time to appreciate his run and laughs we shared.
