You might not feel a distinct need for more information about Community, TV's critically acclaimed (if you don't count Emmy nominations) but barely watched Thursday night comedy. Too bad. It's a great show and I'm going to keep blogging about it until everyone watches/loves it.

I'm already really excited about the next season, considering the second season featured one of the most creative string of episodes of a comedy that I can recall, but now that Senor Chang (played by Ken Jeong) will have a larger role, I can barely wait:

Harmon tells us that after drifting around a bit last season without a clear mission, "This season I hope to tell a more structured story about Chang." Specifically, Jeong's character will be a security guard when classes resume September 22. "We have a story line that will detail his rise to power," he says. "I wanted to tell a story of acquiring power and what it does to you. It's a little Macbeth or Scarface. Or maybe something from The Wire." Will Chang be a corrupt fake cop? "He's corrupt in the sense that the campus is less secure than if he wasn't a security guard. But he's mostly insane," Harmon explains.

I don't know how a thirty minute comedy is going to develop a character arc for a minor character about how power corrupts, but I'm definitely interested to see how it turns out.

The good news: The reality show that goes "inside a busy hair salon in Wasilla, Alaska, where the personalities of the owner and her staff are as big as the hairstyles they create" will only consist of two episodes (for now).

The bad news: There will actually be a reality show (titled Big Hair Alaska...sigh) that goes "inside a busy hair salon in Wasilla, Alaska". Who knew that when Sarah Palin was announced as a vice-presidential candidate that we would be subjected to her hair stylists?

While by any reasonable standard, Saved by the Bell was a terrible television program, especially since the show's run means that we still have to be reminded of Dustin Diamond's existence every few months, it was one of the last shows that nearly everyone of a certain generation has seen. Now, with a million channels and another million other entertainment options, my kids won't likely have a show they feel such a connection to. Everyone around my age likely had a crush on Kelly Kapowski or Zack Morris, but in twenty years, I doubt my son will have conversations about iCarly, and if he did, half of his audience will likely have a blank stare on their face.

So, it's not entirely a surprise that two tributes to Saved by the Bell popped up online this week. Above, the cast of Final Destination 5: The Quest for More Cash Without Coming Up With New Ideas re-imagines the lighthearted wackiness of the teen TV show with a bit of their movie's accident driven gore.

If you're not in the mood to see someone comically decapitated, perhaps the 8-bit era recalling Saved by the Bell interactive game is more up your alley. While it resembles a somewhat shallow Choose Your Own Adventure more than anything, the game is an interesting use of YouTube:

Probably not safe for work, if the word "scrotum" in the title of the post didn't tip you off.

No joke, hearing the sound of the Star Wars blaster that my son has around the 1:40 mark caused me to have an involuntary twitch for a bit.

There are certainly plenty of podcasts out there to occupy your time digitally for an hour or so , but the Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin Show has proven to be one of the ones worth subscribing to or occasionally remembering to download or whatever. I can't possibly be the only person who is interested in hearing an hour-long interview with Lee Roy Myers, the director of the porn parodies of Seinfeld and The Big Lebowski, and Scott, pizza box expert, right? Ok, maybe I am.

This week, however, Jeff Rubin outdoes himself with an episode dedicated to the Nickelodeon game show, Legends of the Hidden Temple. Not only does he interview the show's incredibly eager host, Kirk Fogg, but also a winning contestant, Anthony. Insider kid-oriented game show knowledge galore!

Again, I might be the only person who cares about this.

The exciting finish of Anthony's episode:

A couple weeks ago, Chuck Klosterman wrote a piece for Grantland arguing Breaking Bad is actually the best of the four most highly-regarded cable dramas (the others being Mad Men, The Sopranos, and The Wire).

While I might be getting close to Ron Swanson overload (wait, not at all), I applaud you illustrator Kyle Hilton for offering the world a weekly series of paper dolls. Right now, I can only have imaginary Parks and Rec conversations between Ron Swanson, April Ludgate, and Tom Haverford, but with ten (!!!) Arrested Development dolls, who needs a movie? Tonight, I'll be acting out my own extension of the series cut far too short. In other news, I probably should seek some sort of professional counseling.

My vote for the best show (not involving former cast members of the Real World, at least) on television won't be back on the air until 2012 unfortunately, but you can watch Mad Men's first four seasons on Netflix Instant starting today, which is of some comfort. Now you can watch the story of Don Draper from the beginning, complete with children playing with dry cleaning bags and large amounts of liquor. If you enjoy television as a medium at all and you continue to refuse to watch Mad Men, even when they make it as easy as possible for you, I'm not sure we can be friends any more.
