Sen. Al Melvin, set your TiVo! I make a return to KUAT's Friday line-up for one night only: I talk about the legislative session with Christopher Conover on Arizona Illustrated at 6:30 p.m. and join Mike Chihak on Arizona Week to focus on the impact of the GOP's education cuts at 8:30 p.m. It's on Channel 6, whatever that means in today's digital age, and online at Arizona Public Media.

It was almost exactly like this for us, performance-wise, but thanks to the seemingly overwhelmed staff of Bumsted's and the Geeks Who Drink people for a fun night. Our happy...it tastes just like sad.

Maybe it's a little strange, but when Glenn Beck announced he will end his daily television show this week, I was mostly excited to see what Jon Stewart would say. You can watch the entire episode on the Daily Show's website.

The Adult Swim network is taking over the 300 E. 7th Street parking lot near the U of A today for their Ragbag Of Jollification carnival/block party, with games, free stuff and a free performance from High On Fire. Whether you spend late nights getting high and watching Aqua Teen Hunger Force or not, High On Fire is absolutely worth seeing if you enjoy metal, and the price is certainly right. The carnival runs from 6 to 11 pm and you can find out more at adultswimpresents.com.

I probably should have coughed up the money to watch the highlight of the sports entertainment calendar Wrestlemania last night, but thanks to the internet, cheapskates everywhere can see the end of Snooki's match, where she put on a shockingly competent show:

I don't know whether former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole's judging skills will get me to actually watch Simon Cowell's new American Idolish show The X Factor, but at least I'll consider it now:

Cheryl Cole has the X factor — so much so that she has signed on as the newest judge of the U.S. version of Simon Cowell's hit reality competition show.

According to 'X Factor' judge L.A. Reid, former Girls Aloud singer Cole will join him and Cowell to weed out hopefuls in search of America's most talented performers.

If you're not familiar with the stellar pop music created by Ms. Cole, consider this your lucky day.

Lindy’s on 4th makes another televised appearance tonight, Monday, April 4, this time on the Food Network show Meat and Potatoes.

The show’s host, Rahm Fama, will take a look at one of the restaurant’s robust and peculiar offerings, a double-patty burger with grilled-cheese sandwiches as buns.

From the press release:

Premiering Monday, April 4th at 10pm ET/PT
"Burger Mania"
Rahm Fama tracks down some of the country's most unique burger creations. First, he finds a decadent Whiskey King Burger topped with applewood bacon, foie gras and bleu cheese at Iron Chef Jose Garces' Village Whiskey in Philadelphia. Then, Rahm heads west to San Francisco where he bites into a juicy Bison Tejano Burger at Roam Artisan Burgers, an all-natural twist on the American classic. Finally, at Lindy's on 4th in Tucson, Ariz., Rahm gets meat-drunk on a rock and roll Peek-a-Boo burger, a duo patty creation served up between double grilled-cheese sandwiches made with thick Texas toast.

In related news: It looks like Lindy's burger of the month for April is going to be some sort of a chicken-and-waffles creation, according the restaurant's Facebook page. There is no end to the burger madness at this eatery.

I guess it seems like Comedy Central has been on the cable lineup forever, but there was a time twenty years and one day ago when the idea of an all comedy network featuring American Pie sequels and Futurama episodes was just a dream. However, these days my life would be a hollow empty place without Comedy Central, whether that's the memories of Reno 911! and the Chappelle Show or the stellar doubleheader of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. If nothing else, I will always thank Comedy Central for giving me Kids in the Hall episodes to watch after school as a teenager. How could I possibly thank a television network that has given me so much? Actually, it's a corporate entity, so I'm sure they'll be ok without my thanks, right?

I wanted to include clips of my favorite Comedy Central show ever, VS., where groups of people who dislike each other competed in an impossible game show, but YouTube was no use, so you get highlights from Let's Bowl instead.

They're smart enough to make people pick up the gun somewhere else and you can get a Pizza Hut gift certificate instead, but it does seem that things have changed quite a bit at Radio Shack since I used to go there to get cords for my stereo. In other news, the Arizona Senate is likely writing up an official commendation for the store manager and his bravery right now.

When driving down U.S. Highway 93 through Hamilton, there's no need to do a double-take when you see the sign hanging above the Radio Shack Super Store.

You read it right. Customers who buy Dish Network will be rewarded with a firearm.

"I think it really, really fits the Bitterroot Valley," said Steve Strand, who has owned Hamilton's Radio Shack for about seven years.

Strand, along with store manager Fabian Levy, wanted to generate more foot traffic at their location. So far, the gun giveaway has worked like a charm.

"It's been really successful," Levy said.

According to Strand, it has tripled his business since the promotion started last October. And, he said, easily hundreds of people have stopped in to see what the sign is all about. "Protect yourself with Dish Network. Sign up now, get free gun," the sign reads.

"We have people literally stop in to take pictures of the sign," Levy said.

Qualifying customers have the choice between a Hi Point 380 pistol or a 20-gauge shotgun.

The deal is only good for new Dish Network customers and they must buy a certain amount of equipment to qualify for the free gun.

While I know it's not true, in my mind, I'm picturing that this video is from a magical Japanese night club where they're still wearing Cross Colours gear, dancing to tracks from 1991's De La Soul is Dead and dance moves like David Silver had are still cool. For me, that might be heaven.
