Norm McDonald stars as the voice of a pigeon (sure) in a forthcoming Adult Swim show (of course) where an animated Mike Tyson (seemingly voiced by Mike Tyson himself) solves Scooby Doo-like mysteries (why not?). No word on when the actual show premieres, but between this and Black Jesus, I might not watch another cable channel ever.

In other news, our own Henry Barajas went to Comic-Con where this trailer premiered and failed to mention its existence to any of us. THANKS FOR NOTHING, HENRY.

I was on Metro Week tonight, clearly because most local journalists were busy trying to get a table at Pizzeria Bianco and I was the only person available, discussing the streetcar, medical marijuana, the death penalty and some other stuff with AZPM's Andrea Kelly and Zac Ziegler, plus my Tucson Local Media pal Thelma Grimes.

Meet Kacy Catanzaro. She is a 5-foot gymnast that only weighs 100-pounds. Catanzaro broke some records on the NBC  sports entertainment television, American Ninja Warrior. She became the first woman to complete the demanding "Warrior Wall" and qualify for the Mount Midoriyama challenge in Las Vegas.

The BBC released the first Doctor Who trailer on Sunday. Unfortunately, the series won't debut until Saturday, Aug. 23. So why wait if you can just watch a rough cut of the first episode right now? Apparently, someone at the BBC Latin America headquarters in Miami leaked a rough black and white copy that was in the process of being translated.

The good folks at the BBC have apologized for the leak, and request that you don't spoil it for the true Doctor Who fans.

She’s a living local icon who seems to get better with every year—36 to this day, to be exact. It’s Lupita Murillo, a KVOA nightly news mainstay since 1978, when she moved here from KRGV-TV in Weslaco, TX. She was South Texas’ first Hispanic female in broadcasting at the time, and continues to produce award-winning investigative reporting on border issues, frequently appearing on national NBC broadcasts.

Murillo, whose thick-accented segment sign-offs may be as well-known and loved in this town as the old Gordo’s or Szechuan Omei commercials, has come a long way from her beginnings as a buttoned-down, reserved cub reporter. Earlier this month she was featured prominently on “Mystery on Sunrise Drive,” Dateline’s two-hour special on the 1996 Gary Triano murder case, in which Triano’s ex-wife was ultimately found guilty and sentenced to life behind bars.

Next month, however, Murillo will be behind a different kind of bar (sorry, couldn’t resist), as she serves up cocktails at The Coronet to benefit the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation. Murillo and SAAF Executive Director Wendell Hicks will be your “Startenders” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, at Fourth Avenue’s coolest new patio destination. “Coolest,” not only for the Coronet’s Old World European-inspired ambiance, but for the oscillating misting fans that actually work.

Nathan For You is a reality-based comedy television series starring Canadian comedian Nathan Fielder is back. Fielder made headlines in February when he founded a non-profit, parody coffee shop called Dumb Starbucks. Sadly, the "art shop" was closed by the Los Angeles Health Department after three days of service.

Here’s the preview for the second season of Nathan For You:

Christine Brecht, Big Brother contestant
  • CBS Television
  • Christine Brecht, Big Brother contestant

I honestly had forgotten that Big Brother was still a show, but hey, the 16th season kicks off on Wednesday, June 25 and Tucsonan Christine Brecht, a 23-year-old Starbucks shift supervisor who enjoys Settlers of Catan, will be one of the contestants trying to win the $500,000 prize in exchange for competing in various stunts and games and having her life broadcast 24 hours a day.

Brecht seems like a great choice for the show, since she told a CBS interviewer that she's watched every episode of the series, subscribed to the online feeds and has in-depth strategies about how to survive the show through alliances. Also, she hates moths and would buy a car with her winnings.

Best of luck, Christine (although she's current under "sequester" and can't see this anyhow)! We'll keep an eye on her progress on the show.

Below the cut, two interviews with Brecht about the show and her plan to win.

Kevin Hart and Ice Cube are on a Think Like a Man Too talk show press blitz. We have learned that Cube is annoyed by Hart's comedic antics, and that Hart is deathly afraid of roller coasters.

The  5' 2" popular comedian was a guest on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show, and the duo spent the day at Universal Orlando Resort. Apparently, roller coasters and Hart don't mix well. This might be Hart's best acting performance, ever.

The world is full of hate for people and things we don't understand. The whole concept of people wearing $1,200 Google spectacles hasn't caught, yet. There have been some instances where people felt threatened by the self proclaimed "Explorers" because they are infringing on the privacy of people around them.

One Glasshole's frames was ripped from his head at a movie theater in January. There are some establishments like strip clubs and casinos that banning and prohibiting Google Glasses.

Daily Show correspondent Jason Jones questions a group of "Explorers" and grills them on how ridiculous this trend seems despite all the crimes that have been committed against them.
