Katherine Heigl’s comedic timing and delivery and her relentless charm transform this formulaic chick flick into an engaging romp. The Grey’s Anatomy regular stars as the quintessential “always a bridesmaid, never a bride,” whose extreme selflessness causes her to plan the wedding of her obnoxious sister to the man she secretly loves. James Marsden plays a disheveled wedding-hater who allows the hopeless romantic to realize that she’s a slave to everyone else’s needs. Judy Greer’s excellent supporting performance as the sharp-tongued lush of a best friend adds to the film’s entertainment value. However, it’s truly Heigl who steals the show.
