A Dirty Shame

There are some nice moments in this minor film by John Waters, but it doesn’t really stand up to his best work. A Dirty Shame is the story of a section of suburban Baltimore that’s being overrun by concussed sex-addicts. Their hero and savior is the Christ-like Ray Ray (Johnny Knoxville), whose orgasm-inducing oral activities free the heart and groin of uptight neuter Sylvia Stickles (played by the dreaded Tracey Ullman). This is sort of the happy, feel-good Disney version of a John Waters’ film. As such, it’s certainly better than most happy, feel-good Disney movies, but not as good as most creepy, feel-unwell Waters’ movies.

A Dirty Shame is not showing in any theaters in the area.
