An interesting and largely successful
experiment: three films in three different
genres following the same characters.
On the Run is a thriller about
Bruno, an old-school political radical
trying to re-live the glory days of the
revolution after a prison-break. An
Amazing Couple is a romantic
comedy, a farcical and yet realistic look at
a woman who suspects that her husband
is cheating. After the Life is a
crime-melodrama that ties up loose ends
from the first two movies as time catches
up with Bruno and his cohorts. Spot-on
cinematography by Pierre Milon (The
Little Thief) and the variable directing
style of Lucas Belvaux neatly captures the
different genres, and the acting is
impeccable. Plus, theyre French, but not
too French.
