There were countless recordings in the 50s and a cartoon in the 80s. Now, the aughts bring us Alvin and the Chipmunks in an agonizing live-action/CGI hybrid film. Jason Lee stars and Dave Seville, a struggling musician who encounters the chipmunks we all know. Conveniently, the pint-sized critters help the man carry a tune, and they soon make it big with an overzealous record producer guiding them. With corny jokes, obvious plot points and an ear-splitting soundtrack, this kids flick can be passed up.
