Are We Done Yet?

The American dream turns into a homemaker’s nightmare in this brainless remake of the 1940s comedy Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream Home, which also serves as a sequel to Are We There Yet? from 2005. Ice Cube reprises his role as Nick Persons, who is now launching his own sports magazine, is married to longtime girlfriend Suzanne (Nia Long) and is becoming a domestic dad determined to survive in suburbia. The two newlyweds buy a quaint fixer-upper and hire an extremely caffeinated contractor (John C. McGinley), whose over-the-top eccentricities convince Nick that he should repair his home by himself. Sight gags and slapstick run amok with splattering eggs, collapsing floors, explosions and feisty raccoons in an endless string of wannabe humor. Director Steve Carr will leave viewers asking: Is this movie done yet?
