While the latest chapter of the
Blade franchise has its share of
decent vampire ass-kicking, the movie
suffers from terrible nemesis vampires
played by Dominic Purcell and Parker
Posey. Purcell plays the original Dracula,
initially seen as some sort of monstrosity
but eventually honed down to trendy goth
guy with a moderate chip on his shoulder.
Posey plays the leader of a faction of
vampires who resurrects Dracula for his
blood, and she just needs to go away for
a while. She also needs a lesson in How
to Speak With Fangs In Your Mouth 101,
because she comes off like some kid
who popped some plastic teeth in her
mouth on Halloween and has difficulty
speaking through them. The only real fun
in this film is supplied by Ryan Reynolds
and Jessica Biel as fearless vampire
hunters. Reynolds is great with the
one-liners, and Biel shoots a mean
crossbow. Snipes does marginal work as
the title character, giving off the
impression that he might be getting a
little bored with the role.
