Two films in one! A campy comedy about
an elderly Elvis and a black JFK. Film No.
1 is not so good, as its not so funny. Film
No. 2 is a sad elegy on death and aging,
featuring an elderly Elvis and a black JFK,
and its actually very moving. Together in
an east Texas old-age home, Elvis and
Kennedy must do what they did so well in
the 60s: Team up to fight an ancient
Egyptian mummy that sucks the life force
out of peoples anuses. Recalling a
bygone age before America was
dishonored by the feel-good-now
philosophy of the hippies and the
born-agains and the corporate
greed-meisters, Bubba Ho-Tep is
a mystically sad and nostalgic film that
reminds us that our heroes can be
fallible, weak and human, and yet still be
heroes.
