Burlesque

Some have compared Burlesque to Showgirls in both storyline and badness. The plot focuses on a girl named Ali (Christina Aguilera, in her big-screen debut) who moves from Iowa to Los Angeles and ends up becoming the main attraction at a burlesque club run by former dancer Tess (Cher, looking more and more like she’d melt if you threw water on her); it’s basically the tired All About Eve plotline that’s been overused for decades. However, I can hardly compare Burlesque’s form of badness to the monumentally epic shit-town that is Showgirls. Burlesque is not terrible; it’s just extremely boring and doesn’t have much more to offer other than Aguilera’s singing.

Burlesque is not showing in any theaters in the area.
