Celebrating Emily Dickinson's 181st Birthday

"Delight -- becomes pictorial": A Visual Lexicon of Dickinson's First Lines" continues from 3 to 6:30 p.m., Friday; and 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, through Friday, Dec. 30. The exhibit, including works by 29 artists depicting first lines of Emily Dickinson's poems, takes place in a pop-up space at 439 N. Sixth Ave., No. 179. Birthday cake by Cathleen Dooley is served, and Vicki Brown plays violin at 7:30 p.m., Etherton Gallery, 135 S. Sixth Ave.; and a multi-media tribute, including music inspired by Dickinson's poems, readings of new work inspired by the poet, and performance of Emily-Dickinson-inspired music takes place at 9 p.m., Hotel Congress, 311 E. Congress Street; $10.
