Chicken Little

Colorful scenery occupied by colorless characters will delight the kids but bore the parents. In Disney’s first fully computer-animated film without Pixar, the Mouse House elaborates on this classic fable. To pull off a 77-minute running time, director Mark Dindal adds syrupy parenting tips, a rip-off of Spielberg’s recent War of the Worlds, a poultry equivalent of the boy who cried alien invasion, and a clichéd underdog-in-training montage, complete with forgettable music. Despite these superficial parlor tricks, the title character (voiced by Zach Braff) is cute and inventive, and the rainbow-colored backgrounds are nice to the untrained eye. Plus, the misfit sidekicks, including Runt of the Litter (Steve Zahn), Ugly Duckling (Joan Cusack) and Fish Out of Water, have a juvenile charm.
