Nia Vardalos, writer and star of My Big
Fat Greek Wedding, penned this
stupid movie about two women (Vardalos
and Toni Collette) who witness a murder
and move to L.A. to escape being snuffed.
They take their singing aspirations to the
extreme when they audition for a drag
show masquerading as men. They get
the job and become a hit, even though Im
quite sure there is not much in this world
worse than the sight and sound of these
women warbling. Vardalos star shot high
with the initial release of Wedding,
but her
failed TV spin-off, and now this, has her
wearing out her welcome fast. The
normally reliable Collette is irritating as
the dim bulb of the duo, and its no
wonder that David Duchovny has gone on
record as wanting to do another X
Files movie. His participation in this
dreck is proof that the old career is
suffering mightily. If you think two
tone-deaf women belting out show tunes
from Oklahoma and Yentl
sounds like a blast, then knock
yourselves out. As for me, having to watch
stuff like this leaves me convinced that I
am not one of Gods favorites.
