Cry Wolf

A cast of nobodies cries wolf in this brainless boo-fest while viewers cry about the 90 minutes and $9 that they’ll never get back. A woman is found murdered in the woods near Westlake Prep, so eight thoughtless high school seniors spread a fabricated rumor through cyberspace about a serial killer prowling school grounds. They unimaginatively name this made-up murderer “The Wolf,” create hypothetical details of slaughter and circumstance, and even describe themselves as future victims. To no surprise, this make-believe killing spree turns into reality, but, of course, no one believes these untruthful teens, who are now telling the truth—just like in the familiar fable. Rookie director and co-writer Jeff Wadlow helms this ugly-looking non-thriller of predictability and yawns.
