An uninformative look at one of the most influential philosophers of the 20th century. For some reason, theres almost nothing on his thought, except for a voiceover reading of a few passages from his work, and these remain unexplicated. Too bad, because Derridas ideas have had far-reaching consequences in the arts and humanities, and though he has a reputation for being extremely difficult to understand, its actually not that hard to explain some of his basic positions. A film like this would have been a good chance to do that, especially since Derridas prose is intentionally obfuscatory and has lead to some terrible misreadings. Instead, this is basically lost opportunity.
