The forest is a strange and powerful place in Epic, the latest animated film to not-so-subtly come to the aid of the environment. The tiny people who live among the blades of grass and the acorns in the forest are fighting for survival against a band of evil-doers who are trying to turn all that’s green into black. We know all of this because M.K. (voiced by Amanda Seyfried) is magically shrunk to the size of the heroic Leafmen upon the death of the forest’s queen. Can M.K. and the Leafmen save the forest before it’s too late? Not exactly a question for the ages, is it? While Epic isn’t exactly bad, there’s nothing uber-interesting or profound to recommend it. The animation is pretty average and the film itself doesn’t really stick in your head. It’s also not terribly fun, which should be a prerequisite for a May cartoon.
