Fair Game

When people ask me who my favorite director is, I never seem to have the same answer. John Landis? Alfred Hitchcock? Jon Favreau? It all depends on my mood, but one person I never think of is Doug Liman … and this is a guy who has consistently directed great movies, including my personal all-time-favorite. The reason why Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. and Mrs. Smith) flies so under the radar escapes me. Well, after Fair Game—based on the true story of outed CIA agent Valerie Plame (Naomi Watts)—I doubt I’m going to forget he exists. Liman has created not only an amazing political drama that sticks close to the facts, but also a fantastic character piece that focuses on just how much of a beating a person and a marriage can take. This is one excellent movie.

Fair Game is not showing in any theaters in the area.
