This collection of short pieces by local
video artist Amy Harrington includes a few
gems well worth seeing. Of special note
are "Acrotcholis," about one mans epic
journey to make a filmic document of the
life of his crotch; "Get Your Genitals off My
Top Hat," whose title speaks for itself;
and "He She Me," featuring a wild
explosion of senseless violence, name
calling and bad makeup on the dusty
streets of the Old Pueblo. Even where the
imagery is not successful, the music, by
Howe Gelb, Chazz Petersen and John
Convertino, among others, is uniformly
excellent, and a lot of the shorter pieces
take the music-video form where it would
have and should have gone if MTV had
never existed. It should be noted that the
worst piece in the collection is the first
piece, and after that, things just keep
getting better, so Id recommend coming
and staying with it, because the rewards
are great, especially if you define
"rewards" as "watching testicles get
dipped in green peas." And I think that if
our current administration has taught us
anything, it is that this is, indeed, the
definition of "rewards."
