God Grew Tired of Us

Yet another documentary about the “lost boys” of Sudan, God Grew Tired of Us stands out for its excellent narrative sense and compelling subjects. Providing reasonable background on the horrifying conflict in Sudan that led to the displacement of thousands of young boys, the film focuses on the recent effort to resettle some of the refugees to the United States. It’s perhaps most illuminating in making us aware of aspects of our culture that we take for granted, as the lost boys (now young men) struggle with the isolation, long work hours and relative unfriendliness of American society.
