This film certainly looks and plays the part
of a spooky horror film for its first half.
When Dr. Miranda Grey (Halle Berry)
meets up with a mysterious and very wet
girl in the middle of the road one rainy
night, she blacks out and wakes up as a
patient in her own hospital. Shes also
the only suspect in the murder of her
husband (Charles S. Dutton). The film
has a lot of twists and turns, as any good
mystery thriller might, but the efforts to
outwit the audience get carried away in
the end. While logic isnt the most
necessary thing in this sort of film, the
movie ends up being ridiculous. Berry
does some nice acting here, bringing a
quality to the film it perhaps doesnt
deserve. Director Mathieu Kassovitz
creates some rather scary images on
occasion, but nothing could survive the
preposterousness of this plot. Robert
Downey Jr. is good in a medium role as a
mysterious doctor.
