Happy

Director Roko Belic does an interesting study of the title emotional state, looking at people and cultures, and how happiness (of the lack thereof) influences lives. From a “happy” American who found joy after being run over by a truck, to Japanese workers suffering karoshi (death due to stress and overworking), Belic paints an intriguing picture of the importance of happiness. The film also investigates how money and material possessions don’t necessarily deliver happiness, but how a father routinely seeing his son waiting at a tea house after a long day of running a rickshaw can provide peace, happiness and, ultimately, joy and good health. It’s fair to say this is a feel-good movie.
