Writer and co-director Chris Terrios flick is nothing but a recycled version of better movies before it, and only the acting mildly saves Heights from reaching its destined lows. Using the soon-to-be cliché cinematic device of interlocking stories that jump in and out of characters lives at conveniently significant moments, Heights follows five New Yorkers during a life-altering 24-hour period. Glenn Close plays a forgotten Hollywood star with sporadic jolts of emotion who uses the day to re-think her wide-open marriage when her cheating husband has an affair with a young up-and-coming actress. Meanwhile, a photographer gets cold feet about her upcoming wedding with a gay legal eagle, despite a rabbis marriage counseling. Meanwhile, other already-forgotten characters struggle with one dilemma or another. Glenn Close in particular turns in a memorable performance, but she cant make Terrios film worth remembering as a whole.
