Inequality for All

Robert Reich, former Secretary of Labor under President Bill Clinton, is your guide throughout this documentary about the sad state of our economic affairs. Reich teaches a Wealth and Poverty class at UC Berkeley these days, and the doc uses that as a launching-pad. There are long looks at unequal distribution of wealth and income, the Occupy and Tea Party movements that have grown out of economic despair, and the vanishing middle class in general. The diminutive (he measures in at a whopping 4’ 11”) Reich is instantly likeable and plain-spoken, and while there’s not a lot of good news, his optimism and educated belief that the country will turn around is certainly refreshing. Docs on this subject are a dime a dozen and vary in quality, but this one is worth checking out. Reich shoots straight and you may just walk away with a glimmer of hope.
