This is another fine film in an impressive line of crazed, brilliant movies from Quentin Tarantino. Whether or not you like the guy, there is no denying that his films and his style are his, and his alone. The World War II action-drama stars a hilarious Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine, commander of an all-Jewish-American squadron tasked with collecting 100 Nazi scalps apiece. The film features one of the year’s best performances from Christoph Waltz as Landa the Jew-hunter. As somebody who watches a lot of movies, I feel an immense wave of gratitude during and after a Tarantino film. The man sets out to give his audience a unique film experience, and he always succeeds. Told in story segments and featuring an insane rewrite of history, Inglourious Basterds shows that there are no limits to what can happen in Tarantino’s film universe.
